I strongly suspect that someone made an offer that was too good to refuse.

Sold for 5K off eBay

I wonder what happened to this polerouter. Looks like someone has made a right mess of the caseback ! Not sure what they may have been trying to achieve unless it was adapted from some other watch.Seems the filing went a little too far ...

I looks pretty original and would have been well worth some serious dosh if it was not butchered.

What a shame !

I saw that one and got excited, and then saw the case back. Too bad!

There was a decent cream dial that sold last week for what seemed like a reasonable price of $1200. Of course I missed it.

Railroter Chronometre that ticks all but one of my boxes.
This dial

Additionally the seller only ships within Canada and to the USA. It didn't show up on my regular ebay trawl because I'm in NZ, found it via a Google search.
Pondering whether its worth the bother, Buy it now US$1100.

I think it is way too gone.

Railrouters a rare and parts are probably more difficult to source than hens teeth ! Although it has significant damage, as it is enamel, it can be repaired. There is a clock and watchmaker that I have used to restore a trench watch dial and he did wonders. He recovers what is possible from the dial and uses a low bake to repair cracks and any missing enamel on dial. It is quite expensive but worthwhile in cases such as that ... haggle on the price and factor in costs for repair of dial ...

Thanks Diabolik. Can you give me any kind of ballpark figure on the dial repair?
It's my grail watch and I'm sitting at home under lockdown with nothing to spend money on...lol

No idea what it would cost now ... 10 years ago, it cost me $300 to repair some hairline cracks and replace missing enamel (2 digits on the dial) on a rolex trench watch. Lynton dials did the work ...

I have a hard time believing this result. I think I bought the exact same watch from a different eBay account a while back for 3k, and it never shipped.

with sales tax that makes it around 8K (here in CA) plus assume it needs a full service, brings it to $8750-9K, which is around what I would expect for a nice oversized SS Tri.

I think it's a pretty fair price for both buyer and seller given that it's ebay. Retail would obviously be more expensive. Good luck on C24, price would probably be double, if you can even find one that is original and in this condition.

I'd like to see it with high res pics!
Maybe the buyer is a OF member!

Is this dial original to the watch ( I know it's original UG - or appears to be). I saw this one and didn't check serial but is the two color tachy track a later piece?

The huge contrast between ageing of the dial and the moon/date discs raises a bit of a red flag for me...
Perhaps better resolution photos will be able to shed more light on it.

Seriously? I thought these were still in the mid-3000s to low 5000s. If this is now the going rate, then you're telling me that I'll never own one unless Mrs. @Larry S calls me to clear out his cabinet. *le sigh*

10 years ago maybe.
