Image from the Sala UG book ...

certificates of authenticity are as useful as a used toilet roll ! It makes me wonder about southerbys, they are a reputable auction house!

Dial is very different. Obviously a redial with a little extra. Amatuerish print is all wonky, round 3's in seconds register, bad print in minute counter and tachymetre scale as well as roman numerals give it away ...

It’s absolute shit. One wonders about the laziness of the “artist”.

Also seems to highlight that these "Extract of the Archives" should essentially be ignored for UG...
Maybe even view them as a red flag. I sure do.

This one has been for sale for a while. Why is it not selling? Are these less desirable? Is there something horribly wrong with it?

Any thoughts on this Polerouter up on eBay?

I'm just getting into Polerouters, but my observations are:
-Not an original crown (no "U" marking - maybe some early crowns were unsigned, but this one looks like a replacement as the other crowns I've seen are smaller than this).
-All of the dots of lume on the hour markers seem to have been lost (looks like empty holes on the dial).
-No serial number on the caseback (I've read these were not etched very deep on early models, so this is somewhat common?).

I am looking for this combination of rose gold with a black dial, so any feedback on this example in particular and what to look for on this combination in general would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you both! I noticed that there were no "Swiss Made" examples in the super helpful Polerouter guide posted here, but was wondering if there were some small number of examples that had this text. It looks like the answer is no.

Surprised to see how much this "Railrouter" sold for.

The vendor was upfront about the replacement cal. 129 movement, is there anything special about that?
Considering that there are 2 NOS case and dial on sale still https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Univ...029464?hash=item2164cc4558:g:BmUAAOSwdW9aRMtKPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I was watching, but when it jumped out of bargain territory I didn’t bid, since I have a few. But glad to see these spillman getting the respect they deserve. Given that it probably needed a service, I would say it ended up right around current retail pricing.

I was also watching this one as it moved slowly out of my meagre post-Christmas financial reach.

The first time I saw it mentioned in this thread was tonight once the auction closed. The silence here is always a good reverse indicator of a watch’s virtue :whistling:

If the winner is reading this please do post it, especially some movement shots if possible. I think you scooped a lovely watch there.

To elaborate, I found the listing pictures other-worldly clean. Interested to see how the movement looks under a different lens.

I always have a problem with UG that comes with extract. It raises my guard given how requesting the extract actually is like paying for a letter head (I.e. why an honest seller would even bother).

Service crown (NBD IMO) ... possible relume on hands, I believe someone attempted to clean the dial. Never ends well.
