2nd relisting.

They are pretty vague on the description. Not sure if they’re purposefully vague. It doesn’t look like there is any lume on the markers but hard to tell in the pics. I wonder if the first buyer bought it and then did some research and backed out. Or maybe shill bidding led to the seller winning

5,650 usd. The lume is there. If it fully commensurate then I would think the buyer got a good deal.

Looks like there has been welding in the movement...Overall shape is pretty rough.

The case is indeed polished. The movement is a valjoux 72 so it is fixable if there is an issue. The dial looks fine, crown and hands all good. I think 5650 was a good price.

what's that out the door? sounds like nice price...

$3456 (28% BP)

For me in London though I'd have to pay shipping (they always charge courier prices) + customs on that value. Probably well over $4000 for me sadly.

28% BP is outrageous. The auction house charges these fees but don’t know jack about most things. Their so called experts are usually some person with a degree in art and that’s it.

I'm not too clued up on the 1950s UG compax watches. I quite like this one and it looks good to my untrained eye (apart from some slight damage to the dial above the "com" and maybe a replacement crown), what do you guys think?

Redial. But a pretty good one at it. IMHO, the margin in the subdial between the letter and the edge is the issue (despite the font style/cliche looking alright and the concentric circle still present). Also the multicolor outer tachy (coupling with a telemeter)is also another point that I am not comfortable with. Also the hour and minute hands are wrong.

Also open 6/9and close 6/9, while it is possible to have a mix between the outer/main dial and the subdial, but for the subdial to have both style is also a give away.

Round 3s generally not good on the subdials. Wrong minute counter hand and chrono sweep. Weird number inside caseback, what is that? Would be curious to see external caseback. Import code is X'd out on the movement?

In addition to the nuanced analysis from my far more knowledgeable friends, the quickest easiest redial tell with UG is usually a rounded edge on the subdials. The original factory finish should be a razor sharp lip where the perimeter of the subdials meet the main dial whereas a great many repainted dials instead show a cambered perimeter to the edges of the subdials where a later paintjob has overlapped and dried.
