Very interesting find. Can't quite find this case in the Big Book, and there were no case reference numbers at this time which doesn't make it easier. The serial number dates it to 1936. The cutout dial is a design feature popular in the late 1930s on into the early 1940s, and something I really love. There's nothing about that dial that makes me think it isn't authentic, although on the dingy side.

interesting dial patina on this Compur, outer registers faded and inner crisp. Can anyone explain how that happens?

Tri-Compax for gamblers - awful photos, seller evidently doesn't know how to work chronograph or correctors. Does it run or doesn't it? What condition is the dial really in? No movement shot, and the case has seen some abuse. You pays your money, you takes your chances...

If you wade in after this one, just be sure your watchmaker isn't put off by the movement. Even fewer are willing to deal with the TriCompax movement than El Primero.

My guy is quite prideful and welcomes a challenge... as long as he can get parts.

Is it just me, or has some creative type polished the handle off the tuning fork on an Accutron bracelet to make it look like a 'U'?

The same guy just sold that Zenith Port Royal 135 for nearly $6k, by the by.

Oh I like the watch itself... just think the bracelet's funky. Did Duchess make UG bracelets? Looks like a doctored Accutron bracelet to me.

    Um, yes, I agree

Terribly pricey for gold plate, but I believe original dial in 35mm

Sold at $4227. Bold, but it may pay off. This is a very rare case in gold, and the seller obviously doesn't know how to work it, so it may work after all. He also doesn't know how to photograph it, so the dial may turn out alright after all. And the light makes the case looks horrible - it may be much better than that. A lot of 'mays.' But , boy would I like to see what this looks like in person.

Kudos to the gambler if it works out.

That dial looks like it's going to have some age to it but may not be so bad. Case I think will turn out pretty nice and the movement unless too far gone can be serviced. No idea on the appropriateness of the price but if the model is uncommon enough, a bit of dial patina would be something I would tolerate (of course if the price was reasonable).

The buyer has contacted me - the Tri-Compax is going to a very good home. I'll let him declare himself in his own time, but let this serve as official encouragement to post the watch on this forum when he receives it. - I'm really curious!

So am I! And as a vintage omega collector - the speedmaster style case was interesting to me.
