It started out above $20k that one, its starting to get to the point of being an interesting purchase especially when you consider the price Omega Cloisonnes are going for

All I can tell you is that I'd rather have Neptune in his seahorse quadriga than the outline of the petro-sheikdoms.

That's probably why the neptune omega is $260,000 and this one isn't selling at $10k.

I'll see if I still have the results, when I get back from work, but one of these sold at the Watches of Knightsbridge saly in July. I think the hammer price was about £3,500.

It went for a hammer price of £3,200 - so £3,891 including buyers premium and VAT on the premium. That would be about $5,830.

UG cranked out a shitload of watches in the 2 - 3 year period after the war. The numbers on those papers and the back of the case would peg the production date to late 1947ish. So, a watch certificate from mid 1948 seems good.

The font for the strike on the case back looks period correct. That's good. My only concern would be the strike looks a little too good but that could be because of shadowing and camera angle.

Speak of: there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to UG's method of case stamping. Inside, outside, inside, outside. did it depend on the mood of the fabricator?

Anyway, others here know more than me. Perhaps they'll chime in.

First post on these forums. Recently fell in love with the 40's tri-compaxes and looking to make one the first major watch in my collection 😁 What do you guys think of this one? Doesn't look like a redial to me, and I like the fact it's a solid 18k, though the 34.5mm is a bit smaller than what I would like.

that's one of the fakes. Look at the miserable casting quality with all the pitting of the case. Check the seller's feedback and you'll see he's sold at least a couple more May 19, 2013 and Feb 18, 2013. His other merchandise is highly suspect as well.

Nothing funny about that "strike." The numbers look extra embossed because some of them are filled up with polishing compound that was not removed from the watch case after the seller or his watchmaker polished it for sale.

Not Ebay, but the Watches of Knightsbridge auction on the 21st has a few UGs, lots 452/3/4 on page 86 of the catalogue. Is that blue/grey/white dial under-valued...?

Also on Chrono24

Yes, but it's an auction lot, so that's not the sales price.

Oh absolutely, I meant 'under-estimated' perhaps.

O/T There's also a 5012 SAAF in that catalogue too, definitely not under-estimated, esp. with the 21% + 17.5%....

Certainly looks like it, or a wrong size replacement.?

Thanks for the response on my last post. Price seemed a little steep to me for such a small case.

What do you guys think of this one?

Anyone know of a way of telling if it is a 40's or 50's? Case look like it needs a bit of love, though it would be nice if the pictures were a bit clearer. 37.5mm case is one of the biggest I have seen though. Will have to take a look and see if he is including the crown in that measurement or not.
