Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I'm looking to buy a pair of UG watches (ref. 12299 and 12268).

I have attached a couple of pics of the aforementioned watches and to me (an untrained eye) they look alright but could you maybe offer up some advice please?

Thanks so much and so sorry for the trouble!

Cheers all!

Welcome to the forum!

Search for Bernadini in this subforum. They had a big UG event some time ago and many pieces were not original/put together.
I don't remember if the watches above belong to this group.

Concerning the Tri, the date hand is probably not correct, these hands are usually red. Apart from that both dials seem to be original and in good shape.

Do you know the asking price? I would expect a hefty premum...

Cheers mate! Does this mean that the date hand has been replaced?
The asking price for the climateproof is 7900 euros and 11000 euros for the tricompax.
Other than the date hand does the rest of the watches look good? Thanks for your help!

The paint on the date hand may have come off. Looks pretty rough.

Yeah it looks to me more like the paint on the date has come off rather than it being replaced with a red hand but again as a novice I don't really know.

Would you all consider these to be good, original and well-preserved examples? Thanks!

Wow. Happy to have my UGs already bought.
Are you willing to pay these inflated prices?

In your opinion are they reasonable asking prices?
No.
It's a dealer. But imho, the Tri is extremely overpriced.
Concerning the cp, I did not follow them. These are rarely seen. It's a good dial. But the size is 34mm not 37.

You ll always pay more buying from dealers. They usually charge 20-30% (some are very greedy) more than the market value.

The climate proof would be my choice as it is a rarer dial. Nice colors, too, really attractive.
Imo, a fair price for this one would be around 5k E

Both are nice examples, prices are a bit high on price, more like insurance value, but all of us old collectors have to understand now a days nice examples are expensive especially 37 mm.

Ditto on what’s already been said about both on condition except for the pushers on the climate proof. Damaged and would probably have to be fabricated unless they font bother you ( they bother me). Both pieces are priced really high compared to market price on the two pieces.

Especially the tri. Way over market.

Thanks for all your opinions! May I know how much would you similar examples of watches be going for at market price?

The dial on the Climate Proof is really nice but the watch is far from perfect. The pushers need to be replaced or totally re-plated and the crown looks wrong also. You should check that this piece still has its original internal dust cover because these go missing. I have one in rose gold and waited a very long time for it and paid up, frankly. It is said that UG made just 200 Climate Proof Compaxes in total across both 34mm and 37.5mm but, of course, this claim is impossible to verify. Lets just say that they are very very rare. The one you posted is arguably less desirable at 34mm and in yellow gold and the price should probably reflect this fact. Meertz has one if you are comparing prices but the dial on his looks washed to me. They are gorgeous watches and command a premium even above the current UG mania.

I will let others continue to weigh in on the Tri Compax but I also feel that better examples are available for much less money.

Thanks for your reply! As for the crown ive spotted a model with the same crown that was sold on European Watch Company (https://www.europeanwatch.com/23913.html). Wouldthis be a replacement crown or just due to different production dates?

Cheers!

I see what you mean and it does seem very coincidental that both watches would be fitted with the same domed ‘replacement’ crown. I just checked in Sala and the 34mm shown there also has a domed crown.

The 37.5mm Climate Proof was produced a couple of years before the 34mm. It has a flat crown in Sala so perhaps you’re spot on and the variance in style is due to different production periods.

Low odds on replacement. Search on OF for replate services in Na or EU. Replate is the better option. I’d do this through a restoration watchmaker were this my watch.
