I found this UG at an auction, I think it's from the 50's but I would love to have any infos. Is it a good caliber? What would be a fair price ? Thank you
To my eyes, UG logo doesn't seem centered to the 12 índice, and the 6 one is not aligned... Polished case, wrong crown, and no information can be provided on the movement nor caliber as it is inside the watch... You need to post a picture on the inside of the case back and of the movement. My infrared eyes are a bit tired today... it's Monday
Despite the fact that the Universal text has the flat A, there is something about the inking that looks off and it doesn't look straight (though I suppose this could be the camera angle). It's more a watch I'd buy for under 100 as a source of spares rather than something to take on as a project. I have one watch with a calibre 332 and it's a perfectly serviceable 3 hander. Spare movements are normally available on Ebay.
Quick search- Here are some cal 332 dials you can compare it to. The Shield may have drifted and causing some misalignment cues. The printing of the Letters aren't great but I'm not sure someone would go through the hassle of redialing it. Personally I've come to accept some of these printing inconsistencies with UG. You see enough over time and you get a feel.
My sole Universal is a 332. Some parts and spare movements were around, but I had difficulty finding a set bridge that ended up setting me back about $100 for just the part since it was scarce. But after a service, it's been running fine.
the minute track on the OP watch seems to be obscured by something, it looks like there is lume on the hour intervals, although the lume looks newer
