Universal Genève Four Digit References

This watch is a bit of an enigma to me. It's a talisman obviously and it has all the correct stamps for a french market piece note the top owl mark on the caseback there is also one on the side which I didn't picture. What is strange however is the fact that the serial number is hand engraved and well the reference number is missing. The caseback inside is also a little strange and I have no idea what the A L mark means. These were also sold by hermes for 1800 french francs. Which I can imagine it being a lot of money in the 1930's.

Not really. Lot of watches from this era did not have a reference engraved. Hand engraved serial is also seen more often of gold cases

Hello, I just acquired a second UG with a four digits reference ...

I believe it is a new addition to the list: ref 5177 COMPUR

Pictures are from the seller ad.

What is the opinion of the experts in the forum? Does it look legit and original? My impression from the pictures was positive, but I am not a UG expert.

Looks legit and og.
Nice watch.
Thank you!
From which year would you date this ref 5177, according to the serial number and simbol inside the case would it make sense to date it from 1936?
