    Hey guys,

I recently bought a UG Compax of 1945/46 with ref. 22498.

The dial has a nice patina but the logo on the dial is one that I haven't seen on other dials.

Is there anybody who could tell me something about the logo?

Thanks for your help and best regards

It’s a UG logo that appears on some dials, not very often, and I consider it a nice little bonus

Do we think this is original or a factory service dial?

Agree it would be hard to tell either way. I think I've seen vintage ads with that logo but I can't remember now. That would be one way to confirm its factory original.

I don't doubt it is a factory dial.

what do you mean by original, factory, and factory service dial, I'm not sure I'm completely understanding the terminology? I've not seen discussions on how to differentiate between an original and service dial for anything other than Tri Compax, although would be interesting discussion if there is such info out there....

I think- Factory original vs factory service - 1 starts with the watch at retail purchase, the latter ends up in the watch as a replacement from the manufacturer after a service or damage to the original etc.

sure, but you could also omit "factory" and just have original dial and service dial. We all have different lingo i guess. For me you have original dials, service dials, prototype/test dials (all three of those categories are original AKA factory AKA subcontractor (IE singer) produced) and then you have redials for everything else. Not saying that is the correct way, that's just how I think about it. Maybe there's some more categories I'm not thinking of.....

Factory: OEM so installed in the watch when sold new
Service: OEM (so sold through factory affiliated outlets) but installed at a service
    Factory redone
    Redone

I have been working on a pet project regarding UG for the last months (post about it is WIP) but I have seen this logo more often so I have zero doubts about the fact that they have a factory connection but I am not convinced that they were installed when the watch was produced. Having said that: I think that UG may qualify as the brand with the highest % of redials (or for that matter: replaced dials)....

Why should that be? Faults in production or more suscetible to water/atmospheric penetration?
