Unidentifiable omega rubber strap

Greetings from Texas! I am starting to collect omega and I came across this watch for sale. The Buckle is an 025CTZ005003 omega black steel clasp. The rubber strap is a 980003 and it is attached to the 20mm lug to lug Omega 300 42mm but I can’t find any of that strap aside from the rubber strap of an omega PO with stitching inside and outside. Notice the outside of the strap does not have any stitching. Any idea if it is a new version of a strap or a AD specific item? The owner said that when he bought the watch the strap and the buckle is in lieu of the generic rubber, buckle and tang of the omega 300.

Not sure if it's genuine either (suspect it's a fake one). I have seen these straps usually sold on AliExpress or Ebay for cheap money. Even if they all have the Omega stamps on the inside they are counterfeit.

BTW I think you are in the wrong section (vintage). IMO this thread belongs to modern omega watches section.
