Seems that were some black dial versions made, yes. Scroll through this thread there are a couple examples.

another beautiful example of a KL6312... and yet adds to the mystery. 22m serial # engraved in 1965, where as mine is 18m and from 1966. Even with mine sitting in the display case for a year or two seems like a wide spread on serial #.

Omega 560 mysteries, the answers are out there.

Some speculation on my part chatting with my wife ... Maybe these companies bought a lot of 50 or 100, in the case of say IBM, and held onto them to give out over time? Or maybe bought 25 at a time from different locations locally to save money?
