We as allways have to add the buyers premium and taxes that would make roughly USD 34.000 but still far away from 80k USD

Yes with 22.5% buyers premium and absent any other costs it was about 35k usd. Mine sold for over 50k, lower than 60k usd. My Ultraman was nicer. I am not sorry if I offended you with my 80k usd asking price.

I am not quite sure why you continue to be so aggressive about the watch you recently listed. Obviously, you were free to ask whatever you wanted for it.

Unfortunately, the original thread discussing the watch is gone, but the majority agreed that the listing price was VERY high and it was not the best example in the world.

The Bukowski's result was strong and serves as a documented closing price for the reference. Your watch listing was ended on eBay without a documented sale.

Unless there is proof of sale, yours could have sold at any price from $0.01 - Powerball jackpot.

I am obviously free to ask whatever I want for it, but when I comment defending my position I am aggressive. If I had asked for 15k two years ago it would have been VERY high, if I had asked for 25k a year ago I would have been VERY high. It is probably the nicest example that exists. The thread exists, is closed to more comments, and turned into a discussion about ordering extracts, which is probably a worthwhile discussion. I’m not going to give you a bank record for “proof of sale”,if you don’t want to believe me...cool

I thought all of your comments were great! No apologies necessary from you, I think you add a lot of positive value to OF and put a lot of work into making this a good forum, which is more than I can say for myself

I can additionally tell you, that my brother who is a member here too, was offered a very nice Ultraman about 3 month ago at ca. 13 k EUR. The watch had the glossy black dial and original bracelet and Extract of Archives too. As he purchased a very nice 105.002 with Alpha Hands from this private seller, he finally rejected the Ultraman (which might be a big mistake). Long Story short tell: Ultraman are worth what sellers ask for and custumers a willimg to pay for it.

In some ways, you can also say that the ST2 solidified the Ultraman as a -collectible- novelty, whereas it could have been that sentiment moved towards - it's just a watch with an orange chrono hand and kept prices at or slightly above another watch of the same reference.

tl;dr Ultraman prices are probably strongly driven by WIS collector hype.

Really, nobody can predict the future truly, so it's best to enjoy the pieces we have while we have 'em, and move on. Or else I think I will go mad looking at all the great barn/fish/steal posts or the "darn, I knew I shouldn't have sold that..!!" regrets.

Ohh...don't we all....and besides if we had one, we would fix some more bigger regrets than watch decisions

Sounds like you expect the market to continue to rise parabolically, which is precisely the mentality of those who get stuck with deflating assets when bubbles burst. And if you don't believe that high-end vintage watches will be affected, you're in for a rude awakening.

And...perhaps sooner, than one might imagine

Tangentially, I am reminded of this scene
