Ultraman 2

I watched Stowaway this past weekend. I'm obsessed with the watch that Daniel Day Kim wore in the movie. After little research, I learned that this was a limited edition Speedmaster. Would it be possible to convert a Broad Arrow Replica to this standard if parts were readily available?

Photos of the specific LE would probably help. Is it the Speedy Tuesday 2? Why is the Broad Arrow replica your preferred starting point?

You want to convert your broad arrow into a ST2 Ultraman?

On few occasions I have seen a ST2 bezel for sale by itself, but I can’t recall ever seeing either the ST2 hands or dial for sale by themselves.

You almost certainly won't be able to source an ST2 dial, hands or bezel for this project because the parts aren't available by themselves.

What about an orange central second hand? I believe someone here on OF said there is a company selling those. Does anyone know?

So LE parts are all swap only for new models.

there are after market Orange hands out there.

google is your friend.

the special UV reactive dial, and orange accented DON bezel are not.

To clarify this post of mine:

The ST2 bezel was the only stand alone part I have ever seen for sale. For example, this member had 2 for sale back in 2020
https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-parts-bezels-bracelets-and-natos.120713/#post-1615624

And there was this build from another member that used one, which was sourced by their watch maker (Lewis WatchCo).

However, where I want to clarify is, as said above, those days are long gone now. These parts are only available from Omega by trade in only. You might get lucky and find a bezel for sale by someone that already had one but be prepared to pay a high ask for it. That said, I have never seen the ST2 dial or hands sold on their own.

I really like the look, is all. Maybe it's the splash of color. I could do without the UV reactive elements and the three-minute marking. I figured they would be restricted parts being a LE. I like the orange indices, orange second hand, and the bezel. The subdial hands are neat, too. I guess I'm looking at a true fake/franken if I pursue this in any fashion. Fake in that it would likely require use of fake parts and a franken in that it will not represent any current or past model. Oh well.

If a splash of color is what you like, there are ways you can obtain genuine parts. For example, swisslimitededitions has a variety of OEM parts for sale. They will be somewhat expensive but they will be genuine.

You can buy the complete Speedmaster Racing handset for the splash of orange. I know it’s not the same look you’re after, but it’s still the fun orange color.

I’m not sure the broad arrow is the best starting platform since it already has such a unique look but it is yours to do whatever you want with it 👍

If you haven’t seen it, there is this thread on modded Speedies
https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-mods.71936/

I myself built my own “TinTin” where I sourced a new sealed dial and with much patience, later sourced a new sealed TinTin case back. I used a brand new 1861 as my platform.

I love the ST2 and love seeing you share yours so frequently in the WRUW thread. It’s awesome to see one of these worn just about daily 😎. If I had one, I would be doing the same thing 👍

I'm not buying, by the way. It's the look I want. The UV visible head thing and the orange three-minute marking is a little too much for me. Especially at the price they're listed at.

Thank you, bought it to wear it . Not knocking anyone who loves a safe queen as a long term ( possible investment ) but what’s the point as you probably won’t be here to enjoy . At my age I’m not into long term material investments of any form .

The UV head thing is only a thing if you happen to be wearing it in UV light , which let’s be honest isn’t the norm . And the 3 minute marking is for me a nice little touch of difference , and of course that’s my personal opinion. Overall the ST2 is the best itineration of the modern Speedmaster that gives so many nods to past to past .

If I owned one, I'd carry a uv torch with me everywhere. 😁

Actually, in reality, I usually have one on me. Never know when I'll run into a vintage shop for watch hunting and/or trying to find uranium glass. My family finds me very embarrassing at times.

To the OP's point, I've got a broad arrow speedy and have thought a few times about modding it with a colored tachy hand. In addition to the orange hand, there's a red from the Alaska LE and also the blued hands off the broad arrow speedy moonphase. Could be a fun way to customize it.

Now that the ST2 is approaching the initial service window, will Omega return the beta capsule small seconds hand and the orange hand when they are replaced during service?
