Good day all.
So here are the before and after pics of my 105.012 from servicing.
The watch maker ran the watch through the ultra sonic.
Kindly take note of the bezel. It wasn't sealed for protection before it was cleaned.
Warning to everyone out there.
I'm struggling to see how anyone who knows what they're doing would think it's reasonable to put a 50 year old anodised aluminium bezel in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Couldn't help it, it had the old owner's DNA and some of us are germophobes...
Although it's a shame that this happened, it is relatively easy to repaint a steel bezel.
can you back that up with an example of a Speedy bezel? I mean one that looks exactly or better than before that damage happend?
I think he's referring to the steel Daytona or early 2915 bezels rather than the anodised aluminium bezels.

A quick update of where I am at the moment with this dilemma.
The watch maker failed to understand the relevance of a pre 70's bezel, their value, nuisances and rarity. His view was a bezel could be sourced through Omega service, despite my insistence that there are difference between DON's and DNN 's etc, and one simply can not call up and order one. He had me wait a week till one came in and could be fitted.
Viola, we have...
Oh no. Did he actually remove the insert from the steel bezel ring?!
