Ultra Deep sizing question

I think if you like it ( you clearly do) then go for it and forget what others think re size. A watch like that is a highly rugged, dress down watch, and can be put through big challenges. It is not meant to be refined or to be a perfect fit like a speedmaster. It is what it is - big and bold and will look this way on anyone.

I have been meaning to try on the James Cameron Deepsea and the Ultra Deep just to see what they look like. Anyway they are both great watches.

All true @Annapolis, but I'm a Dragnet, Sgt. Joe Friday kind of guy, "All we want are the facts, ma'am". 😉

The internet is a sketchy neighborhood for anyone looking for "just the facts." 😀 Forget, it Jake.

It must be said that we usually focus on the size of the wrist, but IMHO you can decide whether a watch is ok, or ridiculous, only when compared to the entire forearm.
I made this: the "red cylinder" is the same!
The difference in wrist size is small, the difference in the forearm size is larger:

Aha, so if the OP buys this, the watch will soon fit him well.

A few of the head on shots do make it look a little big, but I think the extra bracelet links aren't working in your favor. If you focus on the case of the watch, I think you can pull it off. The last shot on the strap definitely highlights this. I say go for it!

I think they watch looks great on you. I also think the DeepSea looked great on as well. But to be fair I prefer a larger watch and I do own both the Ultra Deep, in orange, and the Deepsea, James Cameron. I just enjoy the feel of a heavier watch. My wrist is not particularly large, just under 7", but its flat, so that helps. If you enjoy the look and the feel, go for it. It really is an amazing watch. I even purchased the rubber strap for the Ultra Deep for a different look.

I have some new picture material 😀
Went to the AD nearby, they only had the orange version, but they will give a call when the summer blue edition comes in! I think I prefer the summer blue above this orange one. Thanks to the AD for helping me out!

To be honest, the watch did not feel as big as the first time I tried it... It's a chunk of a watch, but I think I can handle it.

In my opinion these pictures give a better impression because they are taken by someone else.
Does this change your opnion? Looking good on my wrist?

I think it looks good on you. Aside from the wrist size, your build is suitable too (i.e. you're not a walking noodle)

No question you wear it as well as any standard-issue human could. But my opinion (for the VERY little it should be worth to anyone other than me) is unchanged, because it’s not you—it’s the watch. It still looks very thick and gaudy to my eyes.

I’d be curious to know what draws you to it as something you’d actually want to wear. When it first came out, I assumed it was mainly being marketed as a sort of technical feat—a gimmick watch as part of the pissing contest with Rolex over super-deep divers. It didn’t occur to me that someone would actually buy it to wear. —But you don’t owe anyone an explanation! If it speaks to you and you like how it looks, that’s all that matters. Seriously!

A massive watch is still a massive watch, regardless of how it’s photographed- it still looks massive as that is how it was designed and built. The most important thing in this equation is how you feel about it. If you like it and enjoy it, the opinions of strangers shouldn’t matter.

I like the way it looks, great piece in person. The pics on the omega website don’t do it justice. I would certainly wear it (a lot)...
I also can’t understand people want to wear a hublot, panerai or richard mille. Not my thing. But that’s just a difference in taste.
With this one I just want to make sure I dont look like a clown 🤔 because I’m blinded by the beauty of this piece 😁

My concern, I guess, is that your posting this question (and follow-up) signals that, on some level, you yourself are less than confident about this watch. And $13,000 USD is a lot of money to drop if you're not sure. And, in my experience, if you start out with doubts, they seldom get smaller after the honeymoon phase ends. And, although the summer blue is admittedly less common than the other options, the preowned market is soft and saturated with Ultra-Deeps being offered at about 2k under retail and just sitting, not selling. I would not assume that this will be an easy watch to move for an acceptable price, should you buy it and decide you don't like it. If you want a realistic "exit price" (as in what you could expect to get for it if you do bail), perhaps try getting an estimate from DavidSW and/or a few of the other prominent resellers---it's a little white lie to give them the impression that you have the watch and are looking to sell it to them, but really it only costs them a couple seconds to give you an email offer. Hard to know for sure what they'll say, but I'd guess the watch will lose 40% of its value the second you leave the store, unless you're willing to be very patient and risk a private sale. That's an expensive mistake.

Just trying to provide some "wisdom" bought with experience. I've purchased a few watches over the years that I was initially hesitant about. In every case, the trajectory was the same: 1) hesitation 2) impulsively overcoming hesitation and buying the watch 3) monthlong honeymoon, convincing myself and others that it was the right choice 4) realizing that I've fallen completely out of love the watch and that my hesitations were justified 5) selling the watch at a substantial loss. Unfortunately, with such a new piece, you don't have the saner option of trying to get one preowned at closer to the "exit price," so that even if you do bail you won't get hurt too badly.

Nowadays, I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to live by a self-imposed rule: if I want a watch, I won't let myself get it for a very long time--months if I can manage it--just to see if I still want it after that 'mandatory waiting period.' More than 90% of the time, I don't.

But... grain of salt.

Looks fine. Don't overthink or over analyze it, this is largely an emotional purchase and there is no sense injecting rationality into the equation.

I’m gonna add that no matter what else you’re wearing, that watch is going to attract attention because of the size. It doesn’t look bad but is that something you would be ok with?
