Seen a few nice examples, full set for under £4k, these were far closer to £5500 6 months ago?

https://ebay.us/m/hEsTsk buy it now £3950

https://ebay.us/m/8qdORv buy it now £3576

https://ebay.us/m/HC4nEf But it now £3995

I’ve been looking on and off but they seem good value at the moment?
These are all previous generation Hesalite models. Given the new Hesalite model can be had for around £500 or so more, I'd actually argue they are overpriced a little (second one is probably on par, but watches out of Japan do often work out to be a bit cheaper because of the Yen).

Interesting! Thanks I’m really not sure what’s best sapphire or hesalite, I know the difference but in terms of what to get! I have small wrists, is it more bulky? I also don’t want the sandwhich

You need to try them on really. Small wrists could mean you might be better suited to a reduced, which opens up a whole new world. Could you visit an AD/OB and speak to them about it? They'll be happy to help you figure it all out and explain it to you. We can do that here of course, but it depends on the experience you want with your hunt.

Always try on a watch first if at all possible!

If it's a modern Speedy you want, 100% spend the extra money to get a 3861. Hesalite vs. sapphire sandwich is a personal decision, there is really no wrong answer.

I would personally either choose between a 3861 or move all the way back to a Neo-vintage 3590.50 from the 90s with the beautiful yellow lume. Nothing in between.

Prices seem to be very soft right now... a great time to buy.

By price, sapphire is more expensive obviously. As someone with both, I don't find them wearing differently enough to matter. The sapphire caseback + scratch resistance is nice, but not nicer enough for me to care. The applied logo vs printed is a preference one, I find myself preferring each of them at different times.

As far as fitting, I have a 6.5" wrist, and the speedmasters fit fantastically. I didn't find the reduced 'smaller enough' to make much of a difference.

As far as 1861 vs 3861: I don't think there is sufficient difference. IF the difference in price is minor, 'new' is probably worth it to stave off service cost. The 3861 dial has a little more feature to it, and of course has hacking if that matters, but it never did to me on watches with such a small second hand.

SOME claim the 3861 "fits smaller", but I haven't noticed that to be the case. BUT I'm perhaps nonsensitive to that.
