Ugh. Hopefully it's just a matter of the label having gotten destroyed or rendered unreadable. This is why I always print two copies of the label and attach the second one to the inner box.

yeah, hope so. The guy I spoke to today was going to get onto every depot that's touched the package and get them to go & look for it...

Never use FedEx there the only ones I ever have to pay taxes on when I buy a watch out of the USA. If I use the country's mail service and it get transferred to USPS or USP I never get a tax bill just FedEx why only them they suck. Sorry this happen hopefully you get your watch back.

@sjg22 - I recently sent through a watch from down under to @Mitka in the UK for servicing. I followed @WatchGuyUK and Mitka's advice to mark the nominated value below $20USD and write down that it was for repair. It's in the UK and cleared customs, so I do feel for your frustration that has occurred (especially when it may have been just that odd, random occurrence.)

@ChrisN - got to love the delay Easter imparts:

This is in my opinion a really bad idea and I am surprised a legitimate business is openly suggesting it. Firstly is it a fraudulent declaration: the watch is presumably worth way more than $20 even in need of a repair, secondly it probably renders any insurance cover invalid and thirdly it gives HMRC an excuse to seize the package. At the very least it is asking for greater scrutiny and removes any sympathy or common sense they may have. It may well be a work around which gets through 95% if the time but I would hate to be the one which gets pulled up and assessed for duty.

Don't use FedEx if sending to Switzerland. They have been charging me 4x the customs amount that would have been correct and because I could not send them one document (because it didn't exist), they refused to change it to the correct amount.

This was my experience almost four years ago. It happened on the return journey from a watchmaker in the US. I could show them the receipt by Swiss Post from sending it out, but they were not interested a bit. In the end they held the watch as a hostage (that is how i do see this). 🫨

The USPS/Swiss Post-Combo worked much better in my experience. Maybe i have just been lucky there.

Update on my issue - a week ago, the watch disappeared. They don't know where it went, and all the depots have apparently reported "nope, we don't have it". And to add insult to injury, I just received a customs invoice from Fedex… I've politely told them to go and swivel unless they can find my frickin' parcel.

Tell them it may have been infected with SARS - I'll bet they'll start looking at their surveillance videos a little closer! 😉

Even better, tell them that the consignor is a Russian man, who your friend (insert name of worst enemy) met in Syria.

Nothing to do with big balls, just the usual „Dept A not informing Dept B“ bullshit, therefore the customs invoice was automatically generated 😒

@ewand I hope the packet turns up mate 👍

Further update on my situation - 4 weeks ago, Fedex lost track of my watch. After a while dealing with customer services, I managed to get hold of the guy who runs the whole team and he's been personally chasing their security teams to look for CCTV etc. Still no joy. If they don't find it by Friday, they'll give it up as lost. 🙁

That's a real shame. I hope there was no sentimental value and it was insured for the full value. I'm sure losing a package is a rare occurrence these days but it clearly still happens.

Hope it works out, Chris

That sucks - a 105.012 in good condition isn't easy to come by, and certainly if it's sentimental then the loss is even harder. If it was stolen I hope they catch, tar, and feather the culprit.
