@Diabolik
hey buddy, i just bought that book "Universal Watch Geneve" by Pietro Giuliano Sala and on page 34 found an image of a compax exotic-dial (version with white subdials) and the hour- and minutehandset of yours (and also the earlier compaxes). so there is minimum one second watch with theses hands.. thought i´ll let you know 😉 (if you not allready did)
best, andee
@Diabolik wow.. very interesting piece.. so do you think hands have been original to that watch and exotic-dial had been switched in or maybe the whole watch has been built together from different parts? what is the refference btw? thanks for showing it! 😉
aahh and here is an image of th V72 movement of my exotic-dial compax with black hands.. do you see the engraved 125 in the bridge? maybe someone else can explain what that means.. i also have seen an 85 on the bridges of my space-compaxes..
I was not sure at the time but following some research, I can confirm that the 125 caliber is a two register movement and not a three register movement (caliber 130) that is found in the exotic. There are a number of other issues that I can spot following careful analysis that are incorrect on the 125 calibrate movement that you show. One of those is the gold embossed writing that does not match caliber 125 and 130 of the early 60's.
I think that movement is not an original universal geneve movement (likely to be a v72 from another maker) and has a bridge that has come off of a valjoux 71 (two registers).
That may be a bit of a disappointment to the owner but it is what I have found after discrepancies when carefully looking at images.
Valjoux 71 is a three register, predecessor to the 71. The two register versions of the 71 and 72 are the 22 and 23.
Gentlemen,
took me a long long time to get this beauty - I wanted it so badly, but no chance that the owner give away!
I made a really good offer, then again, then again ... and after not hearing from him a few weeks long, i got a mail
that he would be ready !!! So I am, always! 😀
He got it from first owner, the watch is totally in original condition!
- never polished
- never changed any part
- serial and reference number on the back
- even first domed Plexy glas with UG sign in the centre !!!
- dial is perfect in any way
- all lume dots perfect
- hands perfect
It even came with the original GF bracelet in very good condition - don't kill me, I sold it as I would never wear the Exotic Compax with it, for me the GF bracelet looks supernice on a Nina or even Tri Compax, but Exotic is cooler on leather and Nato - what a watch !!!!
Thanks for looking!
Werner
