As far as I know, the extracts isn't that precise. They mostly tell you whether the case and movement match. Not whether the dial is correct or not, as there where many, maaaaaany different dial combinations.
The extract I have of my speedmaster at least mentions the dial color--that alone would be helpful already, but probably not completely satisfactory...

So we have a fictional character of a TV show fittingly wearing a probably fictional watch! Please note that apparently the season in which Draper dons (pun intended) the SMDV takes place in 1966. The SMDV was produced in between 1963 and 1967, so at least their prop person picked a watch of the right era.

Now, the actual SMDV that was worn by Jon Hamm (the actor playing Draper) was auctioned off by Christies for a staggering amount of $11,875. Interestingly, the movement number is mentioned by Christies (23’943’081), which would make it possible to order an extract from Omega and determine what dial was issued with this movement. This way, at least we could determine if the watch that started all this discussion has a correct dial or not. This still wouldn't technically rule out there was ever a black dial crosshairs SMDV, but it would make chances slimmer...
A quick note on SMDVs. They were produced well into the 1970s. https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-de-ville-production-debate.67884/#post-852482

There's no doubt Draper's watch is a redial. Can you tell by looking at the picture below?

Adding to that, the supplier of this watch has sold many franken and redial Omegas to unsuspecting buyers.

...including the British Royal Family, it appears. Good thing beheading is no longer on the books.

The S in Seamaster looks like the love child of later ones and the vintage coathanger. Gah.

Swiss made in wrong place, pointy ‘A’s should have flat tops, straight sided ‘M’ in automatic should be flared, Seamaster font incorrect as already noted.

Cripes, tell us more! Who did they stuff up and what with?

Very amateurish and hamfisted. I suppose they thought they could get away with it, and they would have except they had no idea Mad Men was going to be the success it was.

I’m unsure who from ‘the great and the good’ took delivery of one of his pieces. Hopefully it’s a member of the Windsors close to their final glory so the thing can be buried relatively soon...!

Reviving an old thread upon coming across it on my perusal of the OF.

Would like to share my original black/gilt dial in rose gold Seamaster De Ville.

All the best!

Well, an extract from the archives would solve this conundrum once and for all…

Not necessarily. Details like cross hairs aren’t likely to be mentioned in the EotA.

I messaged the seller and he reckons it's original (I realise he would say that.)

😀

The dial itself might technically be original, eg the one the watch came with, but it sure isn’t the finish it left the factory with.

Fair enough.

It's a very cool 'look' though. 😀

If this has been re-dialed, they've made a good job of keeping the 'age'...

Or, it it correct because it's not a 'De Ville'?
