[...] it is important for folks to belittle them, piss on their chips every now and then, to let them know that while you don’t find them very interesting they aren’t going to get away with shit without being noticed and when they are noticed then that will result in another shower if piss on their chips, albeit one without passion. You mistake philosophy for anger…..maybe it’s better you give my posts a wide berth in future if you find them so troubling…. Look at that I just lost a reader……oh well no matter.

Well, your text gives the impression of a person in a lot of pain and anger. I see that I was mistaken in thinking you could weather a poke about your reported ambivalence. With sincerity, I wish you the best.

Can’t make this stuff up ….

Have you seen the videos of that stupid sign? Bright as hell, flashing like a strobe light, and people live in the building right across from it. Saw one video a guy posted from his apartment - it would be hell living across from that sign.

Like the Seinfeld episode where Kramer's apartment is flooded with light...

So not only did they not get the proper engineering and approvals from the city, they were being a really shitty neighbour.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll add this link here. Doomberg, of the green chicken logo, is a very well-known, and highly regarded content creator in the "fintwit" world. He and his team focus mainly on energy issues, but the posts that they produce on a variety of topics are all typically of high quality. They have a large subscriber base, and have just now abandoned Twitter/X, and will be based on substack.

I bring this all up because they have authored an interesting post explaining why the move was necessary, which helps to shed light on just how poorly Musk has handled his new acquisition, and how much damage is being done.

My take is that the fact is when negative press surrounding a public figure is in the 95% range, the bias for hate is real. It takes a lot to look past an enormous downpour of hate and displeasure for a person. At some point, you should think to yourself, is the overwhelmingly hateful and negative message really there because this person is that bad ... or is it that the people PRESENTING the message are that scared of the reality of the alternate message and have something to gain by that person being seen as the bad guy?

Sadly, Groupthink is real, much like the "prisoner electrocution" experiments were real and the school full of kids who had idea planted in their heads by investigators were real.

Tough luck being that far north, I get it.

Not sure how far North I am has anything to do with it, but I'd be happy to hear why you think it's relevant...

Okay, so we are going personal because I disagree with you. Good to know you are coming at this so objectively. ::facepalm1::

Personal?

I started my statement saying maybe everyone is a victim of groupthink here and you disagreed, personally. My comment about being up north was supposed to have some sarcasm there but you took it to heart for some reason. Maybe I hit a nerve saying we buy into too much negativity too easily?

I just posted a link to a well-articulated post, including supporting statistics, by a very successful Twitter content creator whose business was badly injured by dubious moves made by Musk after he bought the company.

What, exactly, does "hate" have to do with that?

If you are referring to the broader thread, I would point out that there are number of other concrete examples of why some have disdain for Musk.

Edit:

I started my statement saying maybe everyone is a victim of groupthink here

Well, that's even more ridiculous than I had imagined! 😁

Aside from SpaceX sending rockets and the such into space (which I mostly enjoy) I have no opinion of the guy one way or the other.
Probably because I don't care enough to formulate one of my own.
As far as I know, there is not one thing that he does that really and/or directly affects me. And because of that, I generally don't let shit bother me.
So whats the TLDR on why I should hate this guy? And again, I'm coming into this totally unbiased. Seriously.

Yeah, I'm gonna say I've hit a nerve. Whoopsie! I forgot that the group in charge of groupthink never likes to hear they might be the bad guys.
