If this is anything other than a F2F deal, please make sure it's not one of these "Too good to be true" deals... Because it almost is...

Thanks for the advice / concern. Thankfully it is a FTF, I've seen the watch and taken some of the pics myself. I'm totally excited now, I'll pick it up on Wednesday.

@Seacow - thank you and I actually picked it up for just a little under $3k. Great way to end the year

Well done Zuke, seems you bagged it at a bargain price. Gives you plenty of room to buy parts as you come across them if that's how you choose to go.

I'm likely going to do a full replacement of the dial. I think I may have already found an original, in great condition. Just waiting to hear back from the seller.

Be careful…Due diligence

There was an interesting historical conversation thread on RWG from 9 years ago, about a stack of convincing Franken 7016’s coming from Vietnam and Thailand

All marked IV 68… ?

Case serial codes around 737738… ?

With SWISS-T <25 dials ( amongst others )

Price $275

Apparently good enough quality to fool some ‘experts’

https://rwg.cc/topic/84486-tudor-oyster-prince-submariner-70160/

Personally, I have seen these franken cases surface, on more than one, occasion recently

And why do you think this fake is even remotely close to the watch posted by the OP?
Do they look anything alike, or are even "Good quality" in your opinion? (not talking about the dial)

Simply counselling caution…no more, no less

‘iv 68’ is enough for me, personally, to crawl all over every aspect, of any Tudor Sub

Thanks @ICONO I appreciate the cautionary advice.

I will do my best to ensure that this is correct. As part of this deal I'm able to take the watch to my watch maker for final approval. Hopefully between his knowledge, my own due diligence and the help of members on this forum I will be okay. So far everything checks out as okay. And serial is 7415xx which is far enough away. Not to mention if someone wanted to pull a scam, I'm sure they would have picked a nicer dial.

Good advice, Icono. in this case here, i think, he will be safe. the underside of the middle case shows correct metal corrosion where the seal and the back touches the middle case. the steel band imprints check out too. kind regards. achim

Just picked up the watch. It's not perfect, I'll certainly be on the hunt for a new dial. But in the meantime I'm happy to wear it as is.

If anyone has a blue 7021 dial FS please let me know

Thanks again to everyone for your help
J

Hi folks, apologies in advance for the double-post, but I kinda need to know rather quickly and there is no point recreating another thread, so here we go: what color is the back of an original blue SF insert supposed to be? Blackback? Blueback?NoColorBack?

Thank you 😀

@Lonestar - I wish I could help you but I don't know the answer or know how to take the insert out of mine to look

Blue. They are blue inserts.
