I am trying to figure out the year of my Contour but everything I read says that Universal serial number started at 500,000 yet mine is serial number 356346. Anybody have any ideas ? It shows the serial as 356346 over ref. 41217 it is a 18k rose gold with a black dial and square pushers. 20240513_143838.jpg 20240513_143919.jpg 20240513_143910.jpg 20240513_142430.jpg

For sure this caseback doesn't look correct.
Dial is very nice tho.

Is it possible to open the caseback and show the movement + inner caseback? It could help figure this watch out.

Non original case. Serial is clearly wrong, reference does not exist. Wrong fonts. UW should be inside. Nice dial.

Most likely originally a gold case which was scrapped.

Pushers are also strange. This is a strange beast. Would be interesting to see movement and case back inner. Lovely dial.

I realize you think you're clever here. Putting the question on two different boards to solicit more opinions is not answer shopping. Since you clearly need to learn the definition, answer shopping is to continually ask the question to the get you the answer you want and throwing out the answers you don't want. Did you see anu indication that this is what was happening?

Yeah. Nothing on the inside of the car back. Here is the movement. I gotta say it's in pretty darn good condition. May not be the original case but it sure is a nice case so I guess there is that.

You must be a real great guy to hang out with, Jesus man. He answers may have been given before I posted on the other Forum I don't know as I didn't get any notifications that answers had been posted here.

The one who knows you mean?

Movement serial 180k is from around 1940

Caseback should be marked inside.

More proof that this is a total Franken 😜

It's a nice watch with an original dial + movement. Subdial hands could be original too.

All these watches have their own stories after all these years. I would try to re-case it back to a period correct steel case and wear the hell out of it if I were you..

It could be a project.. If you did not spend a lot, probably best to just enjoy it. You have an amazing dial, good sub hands and a clean movement. There is a story here but we shall never know it.

I meant the one with an attitude problem who attacks a new member with a legitimate question.
