Trying to date my Speedy

I bought a reference 3572.50 hesalite sandwich a while back with a 77092xxx serial number. Rhodium 1861 movement stamped with the same serial number.

Most websites say that serial is from 2005, but moonwatchonly.com says 2003.

The matching international warranty card says it was sold by Yodabashi Camera Co. in August 2013. Is it possible this watch sat in inventory for 8-10 years?

I’m guessing the only way to know for sure is to get an Extract from the Archives, but don’t know if it’s worth $120 to know for sure.

Online lists don’t work for modern Onegas. Speedmasters have been in the 77-79m range from circa 1999 to today. Since your number is low on that range I’d estimate the age of your watch at around.year 2001 or so. As you know the 3572.50 was only made 1997-2003 so yes if the cards are dated 2013 then it either sat on the shelf or someone filled in the cards later. It may well need a service if it hasn’t had one already as it’s now 20 years old.

We have had many members here try to date their Speedy’s. Apparently the most fulfilling relationship they have had.
