Trunk sale Omega, AKA "Rat Rod"

I am a newb, but have posted a few times, and bought a couple of nice Omega watches. the converations and watches discussed are fascinating. This one is a bit different.....sort of a trip to the low end.

I have watched this one for the past few days, and would never pay anywhere near the asking price $541.00, plus shipping. But it does appeal the the, what the hot rod world would call, "Rat Rod" enthusiast in me. I would wear it, and have fun doing so....just as it is. It is in G.B.

When I was stationed in Dunoon, Scotland in early 1980s, I rented a room from an elderly lady who was somewhat of an antique dealer; on weekends I would sometimes travel with her and her son to Glasgow to hunt for interesting things (trunk/boot sales?.) My question is, what would something like this likely go for in that sales environment?, Is there a chance this one would go for anywhere near the asking price?

It is, one of those things, that to my eyes is so bad that .....well, it's good. 😀

Just for fun.

Thank you for your indulgence.

I suspect that others, like myself, have looked at the dial and thought "I hope everyone thinks it's a re-dial".

If there are two or more people "in the know", I have no doubt that this will reach the price asked.

Oddly enough, in seller description, the dial:..."original signed dial," is the only thing that is stipulated as being original.

Looks like an old beat-to-shit timepiece to me. I wouldn’t even pay it a second glance.

Especially since the 9 is wrong ways up.

There! That is a great answer. "Old beat-to-shit timepiece".....Maybe that is my attraction to the thing: I would sometimes describe myself in pretty much the same way.

What's wrong with the 9 ?

I’d pay $200 for it knowing that just a new crystal and a service would make a big difference. I like the rotating numerals, nothing wrong with that. Make sure the balance turns, no shock protection.

The dial alone is quite valuable, however, the rest of the watch is complete junk - a frankenwatch - made of different parts. The mid case and the dial and the movement may very well be original. but the hands are not, the caseback is not - and I would think that the bezel is not original either. Depending of the size of the case, I would pay the asking price for the dial and movement, as nice dials from the 30s and 40s are hard to come by.
