Hello everybody

I am going on a trip to london today. I plan on visiting the clockmakers museum.
Does anybody have more tips of places to visit? For example museums, fleamarkets, or shops of watchmakers?

I will document here if i see something interesting.

Thanks a lot!

Burlington Arcade always has some shops with nice vintage watches on display. They’re all wonderfully overpriced I’m not sure how any of the shops stay in business though.

Nice idea, have a great time! If you're heading east afterwards, there's Antique Watch Co. in Clerkenwell, the historic centre of precision instruments in London, but call first as I think they may have gone "by appointment". Great breadth and good chat. Further east, Greenwich is the must-see - the maritime museum, the home of the "Longitude" clocks, the Prime Meridian, all that. Maybe you need two days...

If you have time/interest Omega Regent Street are generally welcoming.

Rascal! The Clockmaker’s Museum would be on my list also.

I have browsed Hurlington Arcade several times , when I have been in London, but rarely go inside. And haven’t bothered visiting one since that time I walked in and got a look from the guy in the store saying “What on Earth are you doing here? You surely don’t look like someone who can afford our over-priced watches” before he completely ignored me despite no other customers in there. He neither spoke to me or approached me asking if I was interested in any of the watches. Guess wearing a Masters of the Universe t-shirt and worn jeans doesn’t give the right vibe. But I guess they run into their fair share of douchebags as well.

I believe there is a small but interesting display of clocks and watches at the Science museum, including the Everest Smiths and some Breguet pocket watches and there will be interesting stuff at the Greenwich museum where you also get to straddle East and West hemispheres.

The V&A museum is always worth a visit due to its diverse range of interesting and odd artefacts. This includes an Omega Marine Chronometer and other timepieces (pocket watches, Swatches, sundials, clocks, etc.).

The Guildhall museum Is also worth a visit. Especially the gift shop.

The V&A has Tipu's Tiger.

The British Museum has quite the collection. Most of it not on display.

The Science Museum. Whole section on Horology. First Watch on everest ( A Smiths ) and a cabinet dedicated to George Daniels.
