Tresor 8910

Hey folks.
Just purchased my first Omega watch ever in Omega Boutique today. Great service, however...
Once I came back home - decided to check on my Serial No. Was able to retrieve the certificate through the official Omega website. No problem with that.
However, according to multiple sources (Serial No. validation websites), my Tresor was designed in.... 2007. As the Serial No. starts with 82...(8 digits total).
It makes no sense to me, and raised a red flag. Does it look wrong to you? Should I worry about it and exchange my piece to a different one? Any advise is highly appreciated.

my latest purchase from omega boutique was an Omega Seamaster 70th anniversary Limited edition 1948 38 mm, in august 2021 with serial number, surprisingly 82xxxxxx as well

that particular reference was released on 2018 (as 70th anniversary from 1948) but the serial number, the same as yours, resolves to 2007 at different website and that does not make sense to me either

personally i do not worry as a red flag though

Appreciate your feedback.
Interesting. As a common sense, I just feel like a serial number 82* (the one I've got) should go way before the 89* ones advertised on their website, but... I am a total newbie when it comes to Omega, and certainly can be wrong. I guess, I won't be exchanging it then, unless somebody else here would have a different opinion.
In the end of the day, I guess it is hard to imagine that the official Boutique, not a reseller, would cheat or screw a customer.

Thank you again.

I seem to recall quite a few threads expressing confusion about the serial number sequence of modern OMEGA models. You might want to try a search. Here are a few.

https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-random-serial-numbers.115689/page-2
https://omegaforums.net/threads/new-smp-300-serial-number-question.100832/
https://omegaforums.net/threads/how-to-date-a-modern-speedmaster.119014/page-2
Thank you, Dan. Reviewed the threads. Somebody said the chronological order should be within the same model. I believe, there are Tresors with 89* unlike mine 82* is, which contradicts that statement.

Should I continue investigating or just stick to my current piece?

Funny, but this Youtube video recorded in mid-2020 has higher 82* serial number than the one I've just bought yesterday. Now it makes me wonder if my one was manufactured God knows when (1+ years ago).
Omega could definitely use a better numeration to avoid the confusion and speculation of the community.

I would venture a guess that most people do not google the serial number of their watch.

But the ones that do definitely are the ones that also come here.
Welcome to the forum!

Just out of curiosity, what does an Omega Tresor look like?

Hello Orwell86, my Trésor with the 8910 movement is a few months old purchased in Belgium and the serial number starts also by 82…nothing strange. Enjoy your nice watch !

Nice watch! How do you like it? It is on my list of watches to look at if I decide to purchase a dress watch.

Hey folks. For those Omega-newbies like myself, here is an official response I got from Omega office:
In the early 2000's, Omega stopped using sequential serial number allocation and also stopped making public the "batches" of serial numbers that were going to be used. Currently, we use numbers that start with 7 or 8 but that is the only consistency in the numbers used right now. We do not and will not make public any serial number batches or the algorithm used as it prevents counterfeiting with real serial numbers. Essentially, numbers cannot be predicted or tracked but "batches of numbers" can be expected. However, the batch numbers are completely at random. For what is worth however, I have looked at all of the new stainless steel Tresor pieces and they start with "82".

@tictacmen great one! I've purchased Stainless Steel as well (that's what you purchased as well, I believe, based on the picture provided)

@8100_RPM go for it 😀

The Tresor is a beautiful timepiece! I opted for the Globemaster to dress things up a little.

Hello 8100_RPM, the diameter is perfect, the case is slim, the dial is really harmonious, the whole watch radiates simplicity. The mouvement is beautifully decorated and nothing is hidden by the rotor and other extra parts of an automatic watch. The outside is very traditional and at the same time has the most advanced technology inside from the double barrel up to the silicon spire passing by coaxial escapement and now free of magnetism influence…Frankly, what else can we wish for ?

My GSOTM from 2019 has a serial starting with 86
My Sedna 3861 from this month has a serial starting with 82

It all seems random to me.

EDIT: missed the post with Omega's response above before making my own comments. Makes sense.
