I was looking at this (not in the "looking to buy" mode, unless it was under £4k, but the bidding started at that amount...)

Really quite nice, I think - the watch looks honest (ie dirty) but would clean up well I'd think. Dial is nice, hands maybe a bit less than that, but all in a decent looking watch to my eye. Come on a couple of leather straps with Omega buckles.

Hammer price was £6500, and the swingeing fees & tax add 35.4% to that, so £8800. or circa $11.5k.

..or around 10.5k Euro, Collectors grade shouldn't have rust 😀 I think this one was rather expensive, on the other hand though one of the few on the more authentic side.

I had a line for the auction but it was too punchy at that price. The estimate was a laughable £1500-2000!

A nice copy. That DON will look perfect after a cleaning and the dial is quite nice as well. Not many attractive and good looking 145.012-67 for sale at the moment.

Should clean up nicely me thinks.... 😀 but still a pretty strong price atm.

Rust? Looked at the photos - I see a lot of caked on dirt on the case, but no rust on the case or movement...

Agree, that DoN bezel should cleanup - probably just dirt. Nice watch.

first impression was rust on the casebetween pushers and crown. But I'll not move away from the rest of my statement 😀

Well, I don't really follow the market on these closely, so the rest of the statement could be right or wrong (I don't care either way to be honest), but I do know rust when I see it, and I don't believe that watch has any. 😀

It will clean up nicely.

I think a few of us were watching this, and are slightly surprised at how far it went given the nearly 30% buyers premium.

I was watching the Breitling and this watch. Was in on the Speedy to £4.5k but the large premium made it less appealing after that. Price seemed a bit high but given what we’ve seen on 321s in the last two weeks, maybe not...

The Breitling was the really crazy one for me. Great watch but it sold here for considerably more than what the Hodinkee Shop sold theirs for ($9,600USD), which is usually at least 20% over the market price to begin with.

Yeah, I don't think there's any corrosion or rust on this one...just decades of drawer duty. I had a low bid in (as many of you did) at 3600 GBP, but past that point as a foreign buyer, it made no sense to go higher. The 30% premium + exchange + shipping/customs/service brought it into the realm where it was fairly valued. Whoever ended up with it was hopefully bidding to keep it for themselves.

I wonder if everyone's getting into a panic about missing out if they don't buy right now, even if they end up overpaying a bit. In some ways, it's done me a favour as though I set my ceiling at £4k, I probably would have gone a bit higher and the last thing I need is any more frigging watches 😀

it was Tooveys that had a great Ed White a few months back. Amongst the usual estate sale stuff they seem to get some gems. It’s incredible how these small regional auctioneers get such great stock and then manage to achieve such a huge premium.....I don’t think it’s just watches either by the way. The “drawer” /“barn” finds seem to reach top dollar in Tooveys et al in other collectible genres too. Shame as I think it probably used to be guys like us that got to these first. We need a collective strategy maybe?

Man. $11 for an honest 145.012.

Not going to lie. It's prices like these that make me feel pre-moon speedies are beyond my reach now.
