Tool for removing split stem crowns

Hi all. I'm currently using a Bergeon 30637.2 presto tool to extract crowns on movements (Omega mostly) with a split stem. Serves as double duty for cannon pinions too, so that's good. After using it a bunch of times however, the levers are showing some damage. One side was bent a little and I had to carefully straighten it with flat nose pliers. The metal isn't as tough as I imagined, or maybe I'm being too rough. Either way, it's not a cheap tool so I'm thinking of having it dedicated to cannon pinions and getting something else for crowns.

I'm seeing 2 alternatives. The Bergeon 4344.9, which is discontinued and similar to the one I have, just slightly bigger holes in the levers. There's also the dedicated crown extractors, both by Bergeon and Horotec, which seem like they could extract dental crowns. The second option is more attractive to me.

To those with much more experience than me, what are you using and what tool would you suggest?

ATM I use a pair of AF end cutting pliers (same as used for cutting stems.
I just apply Caption tape to the jaws meet to protect the case/crown and it usually works without trouble.
I could justify the Horotec version though, rather than paying for the B name, might have to invest in one.

I just use an old Presto hand remover that I no longer use for hands…

Was thinking the same. Simple tool, doubt there's a major difference between the two. Not terribly expensive so I may put in an order and report back.

To anyone wondering, here's what the Horotec MSA03.604 looks like. I imagine the Bergeon looks and works in a similar way.

It's much smaller that I had imagined. You hook behind the crown and push on the spring loaded lever to pull it off. That's it. It has a screw that pull or pushes the metal hook to match the depth of the crown.

A good tool to have around, but absolutely not necessary. A beefy presto tool will work the same. If it was like 40 bucks tops, I'd be happy to recommend. For $70+? Get a Bergeon 30637.2, since it costs the same and does double duty for the cannon pinion.
