Wow, what a nice find! I recently purchased one too. Although it's not quite in the same condition, I love it!

That short list has been there for the last 3 years at least. The meaning of it, is that it contains watches that are within reasonable reach to me. Of course there are several grail watches that I would love to own, but I simply lack the financial means to acquire them. One of them of course being a good an honest 2915.

My top3 most wanted list for watches within my reach contains the Rolex 1665, the Zenith A386 and the Rolex 1655. No ranking between them. All equally much wanted!

This last weekend I was hoping that I finally could get the 1665. But lost it to someone who wanted it more than I did, and/ or possibly had a stronger currency to pay with.

A few weeks ago, I was visiting a dealer in my town. On display he had some ordinary watches, but nothing at all thrilling. I asked him if he had any nicer watches or chronographs that he could show to me. He then showed me a Speedy 105.012 on which almost every part was exchanged for later service replacements. His asking, though, was for an all original watch. Nothing else?, I asked. No, he said, not here now, but if you come back next week, maybe I can show you something of interest. The following week I returned to the shop, with very low expectations. My jaw dropped to the counter, when he pulled out a perfect 1655 specimen! When I examined it, the first thing that struck me, was that it appeared to be unpolished. Seeing the IMO perfect vintage condition of it, I knew almost instantly that all resistance was futile, this is a must-have 1655! Found on my own backyard also. An one-owner watch, which had been in the dealers vault since 2008 when he bought it from the first owner.

Let me introduce to you, my 1655 "Freccione", or Steve McQueen (because the watch is as cool as him 馃榾), 3,9 mill serial, MK3 "Rail dial"

Quite comfortable with perlon on the wrist 馃榿

In comparison with a 145.022-69

Did I overpay it? Yes! But I felt that I will most likely never get the chance to pick one like this one up, without taking a lot of risk. So for this one it doesn麓t matter, since I麓m confident that it麓ll be with me for a very, very long time anyhow!

One down, 2 to go! 馃槜

That is a nice one 馃グ. A solid purchase indeed. Congrats!

And now Martin , if you are selling some of your existing watches to make way for your lovely 1655, I will be on the lookout! 馃槈

A 1655 with Rail dial is a really rare bird, in unpolished condition even more. I hope the seller never heard of Rail dials.
Congrats on this one, which in my opinion outclasses the 1665 by far.

Congratulations, Martin. I am sure it was well worth the wait to find an unmolested example. 馃憤

There really is no such thing as "overpaying" when one finds a one-owner unpolished beauty like this. I think the joy of owning and wearing this baby will outweigh the cost very quickly.

Congrats and wear in the best of health!
