The Tintin model was the watch that got me into watches - I was browsing the Omega back catalogue and saw thi color pattern which reminded me of the Tintin comics I grew up reading. Being new to watches, you can imagine my surprise when I found out how impossible it is to find a Tintin, never mind the crazy rise in price it's seen over the last couple years (used to be 3-4K and now in the low 10's).

I gave up on the idea of owning one and bought a 3861.

Months later by chance I found someone selling a Tintin dial and I picked that up, along with a 1863 (I would scratch a hesalite every day I'm so clumsy).

After a quick dial swap at Manfredi, I'm a happy camper with my new daily!

You were very lucky to find that dial, congrats on a nice mod. I like the tin-tin and racing dials for the splash of color, like wearing a bold tie with a grey flannel suit.

Very nice tin tin & I do prefer my watches with some colour to them . I had the opportunity to buy one a couple of years ago but didn’t take up the offer , so who’s sorry now then .

    Me :(

Nice... I’ve held fast to the idea that if I were to acquire another speedie ... this would be it.

Hi, I've been looking for an Omega Catalogue which includes this model. If you don't mind me asking, in which back catalogue did you see this model?

Sorry I missed this. It was on their website - I can't recall the link but I was able to google it while understanding little to nothing about Omega at the time.

I think the dial was 1500-1800 and the watch is whatever you can get it for (I've seen them between 3200 and 4k for sapphire)

I did something very similar- I bought a dial when one showed up on our forum then soon after bought a new 1861 hesalite to put it into. I'm going to be picking up a 3861 bracelet to complete it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one doing this! Here's my Tintin modded Speedy on the Snoopy strap:
