It would have to be a field of P51 D Mustangs, being sold at the time by weight!

Buying watches I'll have to think about (don't worry I have the time on my hands) but I'd invent this place called EBay and I'd fix it so that if you misdescribed anything or if you failed to pay immediately following making a purchase s big hand would come out of a cloud and squash you as an evolutionary abberation.
Feeling better now........

Dodge Charger Daytona (This car has the 440 Magnum engine. I'd get the Hemi only 70 made in 1969)

I would cram as many Connie De Luxes into the glove compartment of a three year old ‘57 Chevy Bel Air, and make my back to the future, pronto

It's easy to list things that are expensive now, but I'm going to go with something that's actually rare. I would wait until the 70s, and get a Doxa Sub 300T Divingstar, that's the yellow dial version. You just can't find one that's all complete (including crown) and in decent condition.

Watch, I'll need to think. But I think I'd like a '69 Pontiac GTO Judge convertible.
+1, seen that car personally in '69, yellow with black stripes...awesome!

Lots of IBM stocks!

If watch related?
Pre-moonwatch Speedmaster with the 321 movement.
Rolex 6062 and 6063 (the most beautiful vintage Rolex for me).
60's era Grand Seikos.

What would I buy? BEFORE traveling, I would buy a book with the results of all sports competitions... with that, in 69, I could buy anything, hahahaha.

Talking about watches, I would buy some watches like 1675, 5513 and gold 1680 from Rolex and A386, A277 and A3818 from zenith, plus BReitling Co Pilot. Enough for me

If you had a Time Machine, and could be transported back in time to the 60s, what watches would you buy?

The question in not only focused on watches that increased in value exponentially.

But also on different factors. For example, watches that were discontinued after a short period of time, and are very difficult to find nowadays in good condition.

Unfortunately, it seems that most people can only answer your question in terms of the investment value of the watches they would buy. I agree that it's more interesting to focus on other reasons.

I’d buy boat loads of 321s.

Also, I’d buy boat loads of red line Hot Wheels and preserve them in their blister packs.

In addition, I’d buy boat loads of rock & roll lessons so that at a later date Metallica would be relentlessly pestering me to join their band.

Most sensible reply to this question so far.

A D type Jag. From Wikipedia:
‘Value - The first factory production D-Type (XKD-509) was sold at Bonhams auction for £2,201,500 in July 2008. The previous highest confirmed price was £1,706,000, set in 1999.
A 1955 model was sold at a Sotheby's auction in 2016 for $19,800,000.
In contrast, these cars were seen as merely obsolete race cars in the 1960s, and commonly changed hands between $3,000 and $5,000.’

Patent Pending DRSD was the first thing to pop into my mind. As previously mentioned, any and all Speedy's, Daytona's would be a good start. But I'd buy as much real estate in any major city as I could get my hands on.
