I was going for the alternate dictionary meaning of Extraordinary : specially convened. "an extraordinary session of the Congress". (As It's in addition to the regularly planned schedule.)

And Mini, as it was half the size of a regular meet. 😁

Gee, thanks! 😁

I’m still in London, too... or at least, nearby. Got to straddle East and West yesterday while in Greenwich on a really fabulous, warm day.

I was wearing two watches while there, mine and Max’s.

First, from the Market:

Royal Navy College fabulous ceiling fresco:

... then, up to the Greenwich Royal Observatory for an amazing view:

The straddle shot, and my JLC Master Geographic on the Meridian:

Inside, the Observatory, some mighty fine marine chronometers; VCs, Hamilton’s, Elgin’s, others:

...and Time 4 A Pint afterward 😉... 👍

Hint for future visits: the 0° prime meridian at Greenwich is extended out of the observatory grounds with a clear line painted onto the pedestrian pathway which meanders around the top of the hill ...

Yes, it is, a vintage-inspired beauty, the Van Brauge ‘Double Twelve’ 37mm. I loved wearing it for most of the day.

We’re headed to the National Gallery today, and I’m wearing my 3-hand c.1950 UG. A post of that one soon..

Lovin’ London!

@dougiedude I would recommend visiting St Paul’s Cathedral and making your way to the very top, past the whispering gallery. Not cheap to get into St Paul’s, but worth it.

Ok, this post inspired me to finally order (and read) Longitude. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, if I could just get a delivery of a nice pint to the house...

This too...

Next level work from Jonathan.

Have been very lucky to get to know Rory who used to look after the Chronometers at Greenwich, and then Anna who currently looks after them, through the AHS.

Getting to go behind the scenes with them, and see chronometers from the admiralty up close is insane.

If they’d only let me keep 8-10 Mercer marine chronometers to go with the tea-clipper that I'm saving up for!
