Thrift store find

There’s an old thrift store that I pop into once in a blue moon. They have a bin of watches, but have never found anything of interest. Today was no different except this Italian Medici Firenze briefcase was lying in the floor tucked partially under a rack of old clothes. Priced at $100, I haggled them down to the amount of cash in my pocket…$46 for a very nice and well made Italian bag.

Nice with that cherry-red color. Love the patina it has as well. Enjoy.

I have several straps that color. They really look great with rose gold. Super nice bag! Great find.

Oooohh, that'll make a lot of nice straps! 😁
If only I had the tools and knowledge. Both of those could be overcome though 😎

I would keep it as it is, there are plenty of lesser worth products with great leather that could make straps.
I often see similar products in my weekly thrift shopping sprees which I would scrap in preference to that very nice case.

I’ll give you $60 and cover S&H!

Nice bag, with the added benefit that it’s likely not full of microplastics! ::rimshot::

Based on the lining, made in Florence also -- one of the world's great cities and well known for its leathercraft artisans.

Properly cleaned and conditioned with Bickmore Leather Conditioner this morning. Really brought her to life!

I’ve brought home two thrift shop purses destined for dismantling in the leather shop, only to be intercepted by my wife who found me to be completely wonderful for buying her such nice purses.

OP - nice find!

I do understand this is going to sound strange - but I have been getting into leather lately... (not in THAT way...)

First there was this 200 Skr (less than 20 USD) briefcase at a local auction site:

After some leather care (natural content) and I use it at work a couple of days per week:

Then I found this pair for 600 SKR - only have before-pictures but they did turn out very nice after some leather care:

Next was laying on the floor at a thrift store and looked very innocent in its protective canvas bag. I believe it was 400 SKR:

And I do like old Filofaxes (to write in) - and as almost no one else does they can be picked up for a song.

I prefer to buy these old leather things and then restore them (myself) - but I did comission a leather craftsman to make me a protective tube for my fishing rods. Not cheap but it will last a couple of lifetimes and only get more beautiful with time.
