Picked this up yesterday from a thrift / charity shop for US$3.00, no visible signs of any wear either on the watch or strap. It's in a style I know my wife loves so it was a no brainer.

Reminds me of a dial up telephone

Well what to do on Boxing Day, go thrift shopping of course!

Found this today, paid NZ$5.00 ( US 3.00 ).
I don't think I overpaid.
Nice leather strap which shows zero sign of wear pretty much same for the case and lens though the lens might benefit from a polish.

This yesterday, boring and mundane, not really my thing other than that it's vintage, ceramic and Doulton and was fraction of its market value.

Not at a thrift store, but at an estate consolidation sale. This was Omega DeVille F 300 chronometer was brought to me before the sale to have a cell installed. It didn’t run, but the electronics seemed okay. I gave them a standing offer of $25.00 which I would honor if it didn’t sell. It didn’t. I ended up with it. I cleaned it and replaced the (expensive) crystal.

Was it actually 14k?!?

There was a bit of a story in the purchase of that one. The shop had the price sticker on the back of the watch completely obscuring the 14 K marking saying 15 dollars. Me always one to haggle and bargain noted to the sales assistant that the watch was not running and the price was therefore 2 high and I offered 10 dollars. The diligent sales assistant referred it to the shop supervisor who said 5 dollars would be fine. They were happy and I of course was extremely happy.

Holy carp; that's a win.

Had a similar one: I (generally) do my thrifting from online auctions. Won this for USD14 + shipping and taxes. 14k as well. Benefited from Omega's sophistication of not putting the markings on the outside of the caseback...I think I 10x+ the money on that one.

Bought this excellent Smith and Sons timer today.
Perfect porcelain dial. Quite a bit larger than the usual 1 hour timers that you see

Found this yesterday when thrift shopping, well my 8 year old did and was very keen on me acquiring it so I obliged. A Roland D5 Synthesiser in mint condition. I just need to make up some phono to RCA cords so I can get it connected into my home amp for her to play.
Was a bit of a steal at NZ$20.00, looking at eBay where the ask price for trashed/ well used units is a whole lot more.

Good on ya. You and your daughter will make many happy memories with that. I learned the hard way, my only daughter turns 21 next month, it goes by too quick and they think they are too big for such things and playing with dad, long before we do. Have fun...........you are a good Dad to indulge her.
