Thoughts on Triple Calendar

Hello all,

I am not a Universal expert by any means but love the brand and am looking to learn more. Would like some opinions on a Triple Calendar cal 291 I found. Have not seen any reference photos with a black dial to compare. Wondering if this is a funky redial. Lugs are drilled and not sure of crown either.

Seller was referred to me by a trusted source, but I have no prior dealing with them.

I've never seen a black dial triple calendar. If such a thing exists, would be amazing to see. Don't let this one put you off. There are beautiful UG triple calendar and triple calendar moonphase out there. Good luck !

Do you have a picture of the outside of the caseback? I assume it is a ref 113xx with serial around 1.296.xxx?

this example was posted here a few years ago, I think by LouS, but my memory is fuzzy on that point.

this example was posted here a few years ago, I think by LouS, but my memory is fuzzy on that point.

I think Ben was referring to triple calendar watches, not tri-compax chronographs.

this looks like a 21301 to me. As a coincidence there is another of this same reference with a similarish (but not same) poor black redial on page 404 in Sala. I guess this was a popular reference for black redials 😕
