I'd say the $5.0-6.0k range would be fair for a non-tropic example, in similar condition. Straight-lugs are getting good money lately. That puts this one at a pretty hefty premium IMO.
Remember there is a difference between chocolate dial and degraded dial. It's all about the colour. Any hint of grey or blackish tint and the real value to a brown addict like myself is diminished. Also the dial should have a depth to it, not a dry looking surface. It's very hard to put into words. This watch is not strictly a chocolate. It is brown, but not entirely attractive to me at least. It looks "dry", and I am using this word in a purely visual sense, not physical. and here is the point. The difference in value between an attractive colour is enormous. I will never pay serious money for a brown without holding the watch. But it I would not give anything like this price based on the photo of this watch. It it has been on the market for some while. it also badly needs a service, but that's usual.
The horns where the bracelet or watchstrap is attached by means of spring bars. In "Speemasterish" this refers to watch references (105.003 and earlier) that do not yet have the asymmetrical case with the crown and pusher guards (wider case body).
glad you asked. Have a look at www.speedmaster101.com i wrote it to answer that and many other questions about speedmasters, and to try to have all those answers in one place!
Hi, this serial is not that of a 105.003-64, because delivered in 1963...one year before the date engraved in the caseback...
