Hello all, This seamaster has took my eye, a possible new addition to my newly formed collection. Model is a 166.020 from 1965, obviously not the original bracelet but i think it looks good ? Apparently this is a monocoque design, is that correct ? Anything look not correct with this watch ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi Freddie G

Yes it is monocoque or front loading!
Did the seller show pictures of the movement?
From the pictures the dial and crown look correct but wait for others to confirm.
The lug edges are nice and sharp.
Is the bracelet omega signed? If so it is younger than the watch itself!

Regards
Neal

5 row BOR bracelets have been around since 1960 at least, I can't see from those pics why there is confidence it wasn't fitted by the dealer, unless the fitment is poor that is or there are markings showing it is obviously later

Maybe it's just the picture, but it looks like a redial to me.

Yes Bracelet is signed, seller said purchased bracelet separately at a later date. No pictures of movement but a recent service by omega specialist with receipt.

Fair enough, fwiw, from those pics at least, I don't see anything to concern me with that dial.

I think it is just the picture. It's a linen dial with a slight distorting effect on text. The dial looks fine to me.

Bracelet not correct. Should be a 7 link model. 5 was used on older fat lug models. Can use it though

Slight diversion, I fully accept your point about this watch, but have you ever seen a pic of a BOR used on a 1950s SM taken in period? I ask since I have have seen a convincing case made that this bracelet design was introduced no earlier than 1960, but I base that only on hearsay.

Based on the limited information we can only give a shooting-from-the-hip evaluation, but from what I see it looks like a nice piece.
