I saw this watch on auction and liked the dial so I rolled the dice. I don’t know much about Longines watches but it is small and I know the dial is beat up. I would appreciate any feedback on if this was a good or bad buy for $150. Thank you!

Not sure what you mean by rolling the dice. Did you imagine that it was somehow flying under the radar, and was undervalued?

Gold filled cases, even in excellent condition, are not sought after by most collectors. The dial, as you note, is in poor condition. The movement is really the only part of the match that would have any meaningful resale value.

I was unable to see the movement when I bought it so I took a chance. Thank you for your response. I was unfamiliar with the brand and style and wanted feedback from members with more experience.

At $150, if it runs and you like it, then I'm happy for you and I think it's a fair buy. Seems an original piece - dial font, LXW on the movement, and the caseback all indicate this was sold on in the US. You can make a free request to Longines for an "Extract from the Archives" and at the very least, they'll be able to tell you when it was invoiced and to where.

On the whole, it's not a particularly sought after piece and it's not my cup of tea. Having said that, I am a fan of the applied markers on the dial and the patina/damage to the dial (depending on your school of thought) isn't beyond my levels of tolerance.
