I’ve been eyeing this watch for purchase, but I can’t seem to find the model number. I messaged the seller and he provided me with this reference number: 24430716. I’m am unsure how to match that to a model number. He also provided me with these two photos from the recent service

Any recommendations on how to go about this piece?

Thanks in advance!

The model is Constellation. I’d just pass on this. Damaged dial, medallion is polished off, case looks polished especially the bottom lugs. Find something better.

This watch is a disaster. You need to spend some time learning more about how to evaluate a vintage watch. Stick around on OF, read as much as you can, and ask questions. No need to rush into your first purchase.

Yea I think you’re right. I think I just don’t know quite enough yet to be confident in a purchase.

@Omeganoobie99 & @Thommas This is fascinating, thank you both for sharing. Here is a quote from the artist that was in the article above 😀

“It’s a privilege” to be able to do this for the kids. I wanted to make something so astounding it would distract even those arriving for the most serious procedures, and so lovable that young patients coming back again and again with chronic conditions would see it as an old friend. I like to think that the parents, the doctors and nurses and staff, the neighbors, will all be smitten by this playful, heroic young dog doing the impossible. Art has actual healing power. That’s a fact! This is my neighborhood, and this is my hospital. I can see it from my terrace, and pass it every day. All my doctors have been there since I moved to NY in the 70s; I’ve had surgeries there, been in studies there, gone to the emergency room there, and now, have been vaccinated there. This is a special piece for me in so many ways.”

Something else, that would bother me a lot..... There is a lot of metal corrosion on the closing part of the middle case. Never buy something like that.

You were right to post here first @Omeganoobie99

This is not a good watch to be looking at for all the reasons posted above - but plus because it is also a frankenwatch watch.

the dial, movement and case back are all from a Constellation but that case is not a Constellation case - the lugs are way too thin ( not just polished).

You could be kind and say the seller doesn’t know the difference between the ref number and movt serial number - or you could be cynical and say they didn’t give you the reference number so that you couldn’t look it up and compare the watch to a comparable Constellation.

keep hunting and keep posting.

Edit
I should have added that the case back has a gold medallion. ( or what’s left of it)
This would only be on a gold cap case or a case pre approx 1962.

The move serial is 24xxx placing it around ‘66/‘67
