Hello everyone,

new member here. I joined here because I would like your thoughts on this Chronomètre that is being sold by Scorpione.nl. I'm looking at it to be my one and only dress watch.
https://scorpione.nl/shop/merken-horloges/omega/omega-chronometer/

I've checked the watch against the wonderfull article by Franco and to my noob eyes all seems correct.
Price is 3950 €

I contacted scorpione.nl and he was kind enough to let me share the pictures here.

Kris

BTW Nice place you guys have here

That is a very nice example.

It shows all the indicators of being a French cased Omega from the late 1940’s. The dial and movement are marked in French as Swiss Made, the case has the French version of the Omega logo (of the time) and there are multiple eagle’s head hallmarks for 18K gold.

The condition of the case looks superb. Very sharp.

IMO, the price is high, but so is the quality. You get what you pay for.

Beautiful. I think the price is high, but who knows when you'll see another in that kind of condition.

Fair price considering the quality, IMO. At this point the question really is: Will you be happy with it?

While I agree with the others.

It has a mark/scratch on the dial which you're going to have to look at everyday

Can you live with that?

Best to decide before you buy

Nice watch.
Now maybe I am playing the devil but in my opinion it is too much polished. Can the dial during the time have been replaced? Erich can answer all that kind of questions.

Thanks for the input everyone,

@DON The scratch doesn't bother me, I'm not too much into patina but this is ok.

@Truva1 I quite like the polished case, it's one of the things that drew my eye in the first place before I even noticed it was a Chronomètre.
As to the dial, I don't know.
Link to the article: https://squelettewatches.com/chronometres-30mm/

The only thing bothering me right now is that the second hand seems to be mat black on the pictures while I thought it should have a blue sheen.
Might just be the pictures, the vendor said he would take the watch out of his vault and let me know.

@Caliber 561 I think this I'll get a lot of enjoyment out of this watch yes.

Can the dial during the time have been replaced?

this dial is original and in good condition - I would not mind the tiny scratch on a watch of this age...

Hi Don

Good point....

If I was a buyer that would not bother me in the lest .... the watch is about 70 years old ... and is over all very nice condition.

Good Hunting

It’s everything I love in a vintage gold watch! Just the right amount of patina. It’s a beautiful piece.

Small update,

I've had the watch for over a week now and I think it looks stunning.
