^^^^^ was a joke by the way- I just wanted to share some science w/ you guys ; ) I'm not sure why it's referred to as a scientific dial. The best explanation I've gotten is that the term was carried over from the Medicus which was marketed to Doctors/scientists- where the outer Seconds/Minute Track is large and easy to read so you quickly and accurately mark the second.
