Something about the albino dial makes this watch look absolutely stunning.

What are your thoughts?

Do any of you know any other references that look similar?

Little or no degradation in 60 years? Seems unlikely to me. Can you add a link to the article?

Note the writer's hedging comment: "I do not know for sure that this watch was born with this dial or if the dial was put into this sharp case and bezel..."

As others have said, these are beyond rare and only a handful have been authenticated to be all original.

However, if you're looking for other references that look similar I'd say the earlier Polar White Explorer II are actually somewhat close. They retain a similar case style, have a white dial with tritium hands and hour plots that will age, as well as a 24 hour hand that will do the same. The only thing missing is the colored bezel.

This is my suspicion as well. I read another article about it awhile back by someone who was able to inspect the dial and take macro shots of it to confirm the white dial was original. I will try and find the article.

That is what really attracts me to this watch is the bezel. I have seen a few custom on Chrono24 but they emphasize the "Pan-Am" aspect of the watch and are a bit too flashy.

I've always been skeptical about these. Most "authentications" have been made by so called experts and never by Rolex. This example strikes me as "out of place" at best..

I agree with that statement. Out of curiosity, does Rolex generally confirm something this rare exists? For example of the few DRSD's without gas escape valves have they said they exist or is it just knowledge within the community?

The early prototypes of the DRSD aka "single red" are confirmed as the first Sea-Dweller "Submariners" pre HEV DRSDs 2000s. Although some Single reds do have the HEV like their COMEX 5513 cousins. Only a handful exist today and those were never made for public consumption. They were assigned by Rolex to some divers for testing before the release of the "patent applied for" DRSDs.

Wouldn’t this just be the same as the Albinos? This article says that they were given to certain people. Was this confirmed by Rolex or is it just the same hearsay like the Albinos. Pardon my skepticism.

When Rolex released the steel Pepsi, they should have switched the white gold version to a white dial. I bet the waiting lists would have been pretty damn long for that.

Yes..Rolex has acknowledged on various occasions the existence and serial number range for the single red...
Here is one example among others.
