You're probably right since the dial looks original. Maybe the photos are just pixelated a bit

Is it me or does the Automatic text look thick and off?

If you zoom, the O,C and first T are inconsistent in ink and size. I think the "automatic" may have been added along the way.

I’ve moved this out into its own thread since it’s a bit controversial, I feel like the crystal on this is so heavily warped, cracked and polished that it’s causing the distortion there but that’s just my 2c. Side on you can see how rough it is

Likely original, I'd say. The distortion due to the crystal, and blown highlights (bad exposure) make it difficult to assess with confidence.

I also think this one is original. The scratches crystal combined with poor picture quality accounts for the perceived quality issues with the text.
