The question should be... How many pounds are used to make the case?
The gold version weighs around 180 grams according to one reviewer. That the entire watch I guess so I wouldn’t be able to guess what’s gold and what isn’t. I did see a used titanium model on Chrono being sold out of Moscow for 54k perhaps it belonged to one of Putin’s rivals.

Is it ok if I don't like them purely by their looks? I kinda think that might be the main reason for most. You like the way they look?...all the power to you and it's all good. However don't assume if many don't like them it's just due to cost.

Yes, this is the old "you must be jealous if you don't like this" routine. Most often said by the Rolex guys (in my experience), but by others as well it seems.

Having handled them in person, they were cool I guess in terms of the construction, but certainly not my taste.

I think this again goes back to how people see watches - some like very traditional designs and materials, and some are very attracted to new technologies and materials. RM would be a hit with the latter crowd, rather than the former.

Does anyone actually pay full price for these??? Its a LE of 140 pieces... but do they actually make any model in numbers larger than that?
Their LE's usually trade over retail. Some can be x2 or more.

I was going to guess that maybe Bubba Watson does, but a quick search revealed that they named one after him, so no doubt he got his for nothing. Anyway, if ever a watch fit the person...

Just looked at the website, that Bubba Watson with the green bezel is kind of nice 😟

and for anyone into fountain pens.....this is cool!! https://www.richardmille.com/collections/mechanical-fountain-pen
I wonder how much that pen costs

Julian Alaphilippe has been wearing a RM 67-02 since the Tour de France started last weekend. Mark Cavendish wears one too.

R.M gifts a $120k watch to Alaphilippe and sees it on the T.D.F podium a few times... that's the best value/money advertising a company could wish for. Same as Bubba Watson winning the Masters, Yohan Blake winning a 100m gold medal and Nadal winning the U.S Open... all with their Mille's on.

You have to appreciate the marketing skills of Richard Mille even if you don't like his watches.

I'd wear a Richard Mille out cycling but I don't think any of their models link to Garmin Connect so that's why I haven't bought one.😜

I appreciate the craftsmanship involved and the complexity of the movement, but for my money I would get something slightly bigger like a lake cabin : )

The Wikipedia entry on Richard Mille mentions Mr. Mille studied marketing and he and his partner spent two years developing the brand before designing their first watch. They are certainly successful in finding a niche market and creating a product line that perfectly embodies that market (the active jet-set class). More power to them...

They must be well made to withstand the sports activity like they do. I was chopping wood one day with an old benrus and knocked the movement loose. I just forgot to take it off.

I actually do wonder if some of them are actually still working. We need a John Cameron Swayze style video showing Nadal coming off a 5 set match and a close up of the watch still ticking...

Damn. You could use that pen to sign your third mortgage after signing your second for the corresponding watch..
Yes, that pen is amazing. Actually aesthetically I like it more than many of the watches. Of course I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I got one (I won’t be getting one) but that is amazing. I bet the designers had fun with that. My wife is an engineer she rarely complains about anything (except me of course) but she was telling me what she is working on now is boring as it’s just an improved version of something she already did. The effort that must have gone into that pen probably made those engineers anything but board I would think.

Thoughts?
Rappers and F1 drivers have them.
Rappers, Pro Sports Stars (NFL, NBA, etc.) not the circles I travel in...don’t care for the aesthetics of RM watches, but can appreciate the watchmaking skill... If I were spending that kind of money I’d go holy trinity or FP Journe.

nuff said....

I find it interesting that on a conservative watch forum the members appear more interested in RM pens than their watches. The reason for this is we are accepting that the engineering is exceptional but one is beautiful the other just different in a "loud" way.

Not my thing from the start but does anyone else get the impression that RM is out of ideas?

Personally I can’t see the designs ageing well.
