Thoughts on Jaquet Droz?

Howdy fam! I was scouting around for a dressy office watch, and stumbled upon Jaquet Droz Grande Heuer Minute Quantieme. I had my mind set on Blancpain and JLC initially, but the elegance and restraint that JD has just really calls out to me. The movement being based on FP1150 also a plus for me — reliable heritage with modern features, what’s not to like?

Now, I am well aware that the brand isn’t popular, and is currently undergoing a drastic direction change to only produce high-end automata. The Grande Heuer is certainly no complicated watch, and I am s tad worried about future servicing.

What do my fellow OFers think about the brand?

It's a solid watch, good construction and interesting designs, but don't buy it at retail, you'll get killed on any future sale.

FWIW, got a Grande Seconde Quantième in 39mm brand new for over 60% off retail. There are really good deals on C24

Also, JD being part of Swatch Group, there's no issue about services. They've guaranteed they would take care of it
