You can check what these models have sold for on eBay by doing an Advanced Search. You can probably find one in this condition in the 500-600 USD range.

Getting harder to find in that range in nice condition. There are several on eBay right now that are close, but they have condition issues.

True - my range may be a bit on the optimistic side but I would personally pass on anything over $700 USD unless the watch was recently serviced.

Dial is beautiful. I usually refer to the MOY test as a quick reference whenever viewing a constellation.

I think you'll start to see the difference in quality of print/minute tracks/register text the more dials you see!

Hope you get this watch!

Best,

Thomas

Hard to tell whether the case has been polished based on the pictures provided but the watch and movement appear to be in very good condition.

I think the case is in good condition: you can see the edge of the bezel (with some small dings), the graining is correct, and the facet at the tip of the lugs is still there. Ask for a side picture to see the facet on the top edge of the case to make sure.

On the contrary - these photos show everything one needs to make a qualified opinion. If you know what to look for, that is.

I rather like the basic dial and markers. I'm actually bidding on one of these on ebay right now.

This one looks like it has had some rotor wear but it also looks like it has a recent service under the belt so there is a good chance it has been fixed.

the simple dial and markers are lovely indeed. Out of interest, how can you tell if the rotor is worn from the photos? And if it is worn, can a service really fix this permanently?

Man, as a newbie around here and a guy who has been collecting/lurking watch forums for ~ 5 years I have found the most difficult aspect of judging a watch is the polishing aspect. It is obvious if they are blinged out with a trash job but I can't always make out a decent polishing job. You have any resources you would be willing to share or is it just acquired knowledge?

A bit of both - I'll admit to not being able to judge the sides of the case, but if they are like the rest of the case there shouldn't be any worries. Basically, the bezel should have a clear sunburst finish, the case a fainter circular brushing, the side brushed along the length of the case and the rest should be polished (not the observatory, naturally). The facets on the case and bezel should be polished as well - all these points can be viewed on the pictures shown here, bar the sides.

C-case watches are rather quick to show neglect. If the facets gets even slightly worn down, the whole thing looks like a bar of soap 馃榾

I wrote a bit about polishing in another thread, but nothing specific about c-cases, I am afraid.

Thanks for the reply, keeping up with your knowledge dropping can be a daunting task so I figured I would ask you directly 馃摉
