I was watching the annual (or biannual?) French-Canadian seller Gidgi33 sale on eBay. They basically provide no description and let the buyers make decisions based on pictures with all bids starting at $1. They have some pretty good stuff and some not so good stuff. This time they listed about 100 watches. This Tudor Sub 701610 went for $5600.

A few things bother me. To begin with, the infamous T<25 dial. The bezel insert looks like it could be aftermarket and the script on the case back doesn’t appear to line up evenly.

Am I being overly harsh on this? Do you guys think it’s worth $5600? Although not seen in these pics it did come on a Rolex bracelet as well.

Have you seen another 7016 with this dial? No T Swiss T
The first thing I noticed too. Isn't "Swiss T < 25" supposed to be on Rolex and "T Swiss T" on a Tudor? A fake dial at least is my guess..

There is no legit Tudor 7016 with SWISS T < 25. And everything is wrong on this - look at the underside of the crown guards.

There are a tiny handful of mid 60s 7922/7924 Gilt Chaptering Service dials with SWISS T < 25.

Case is too clean and no tell tale sign of wear or corrosion.

Referenced this before…numerous times…& still people don’t do their ‘due diligence’

There was an interesting conversation thread on RWG, from 12 years ago, about a stack of convincing Franken 7016’s coming from Vietnam and Thailand

All marked IV 68… ?

Case serial codes around 737738… ?

With SWISS-T <25 dials ( amongst others )

Price $275

Apparently good enough quality to fool some ‘experts’

Maybe the buyer saw this post. I had the watch saved along with about five others from that auction on eBay. Now this listing has disappeared from my summary page but the others remain.
