Hey guys, I just followed this auction on Ebay for an 18K Omega Ultima. With 5 hours left it was at $1,550 and ended at $4,550. Was the dial on this watch legit or a redial? Just educating myself. :)

Dial should be original, there's an exact clone of this one in AJTT and it looks spot on.

Should be legit... But I assume severe shill bidding here. I would not wonder if it showed up again...

That's true. Price seemed high! I wasn't following it to the end though...

I hope it doesn't appear again, I'd be wondering where my watch went

It's all relative... Considering it's rarity I think you did real good there.. Can't wait to see your pics! :)

Huge congrats! It is a nice and rare watch and seems to be in excellent condition. Did you have the chance to see the interior before end of auction as it was a one day listing only?

I think you will not regret even at this high $$ - in some years in the future you will laugh about this price I guess ;)

Thanks mate, yea its one of those things where I knew in advance that I was going to be paying a fair bit for it, I looked at previous OT14324s that had sold and frankly most of them, even (or especially) at Antiquorum were redials or beat up, the only good 14324s I've ever seen are on Omegaforums and Purists. But I actually couldn't find any sales history of 14368s so sort of ball-parked it based on what Seamaster Piepans had gone for in the past which was as near as I could get to a comparison point for estimation.

Its definitely one I'll be keeping for a long time, and one I was after for literally years, when the "Endgame" thread was around (http://omegaforums.net/threads/end-games.2250/) the 14324/14368 was one I mentioned in my post as something I always wanted to have back then too.

I didn't get to take a look inside due to the time constraints and time zone difference, just really went based on the dial and case condition with the eBay iPad app open next to AJTT going over both with a magnifying glass, I sort of figured at least being a more common 505 rather than the rarer 352 of the 14324 there's less risk on the movement side if there's a problem.

Here is mine: Ref.14368 with the most uncommon dial I have come across up to now...

That looks awesome! Heart shaped makes it sound unmanly and less badass, I'd call it double shark's tooth markers ;) I love how it looks on that strap, with the plush edges to the leather. I can't help but imagine Auric Goldfinger wearing one of these, its a villain's sort of watch.

This is very educational, I did not know these even existed. But a beautiful watch, congrats!

Greatest variety for the constellation and seamaster lines are seen in the models with the cal. 352 movement - it looked like omega was "experimenting" to some extent and by the time the transition had been made to the full rotor chronometres in both lines, the variety in dial design had dropped tremendously and was more or less "standardized." Aside from the relative scarcity and attractive look of the cal. 352 movements, the variety in dial design is a huge reason why I accumulate these watches.

BTW, congrats to Ash - that watch while the price is on the high side is a nice specimen. While there are no movement photos, the probability is high the movement is in good shape given how nice the case and dial are. And here is one of mine - similar dial style as Erich's watch but in a more conventional 18k YG case and without the textured effect (same font style though):

Very nice, is that one Erich posted a 352 or a 505 though, if its the 14368 rather than a 14324 it'd be the later version with the full rotor wouldn't it?
