Hate to point it out, but Hodinkee scooped you by nearly 3 weeks https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-omega-speedmaster-first-omega-in-space-now-in-sedna-gold
And it looks like others got to see it as well... https://omegaforums.net/threads/atlanta-omega-boutique-event-last-night.28923/#post-323450 OK -- today is Omega's official release date I wonder if the Golden Pandas will get their own numbering, apart from the the Stainless Steel version? http://www.omegawatches.com/watches/speedmaster/moonwatch/numbered-edition-397-mm/31132403001001
I think I saw it here first: https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedy-tuesday-–-omega-speedmaster-fois-in-sedna-gold Edit: sorry, I don't know how to stop that going to my post, I tried editing the link but it didn't work. Not trying to be so self-promoting.
Looking at the price differential between the Stainless Steel/Leather Strap Speedmaster '57, and the Pink Gold/Leather version, I'm guessing the Golden Panda FOIS is going to come in around $US 28k - $US 30k.
Or maybe not so much, according to Fratello's report last April. More like $US 16k ? That seems pretty low for a solid gold case.
C'mon man!!! My heart skipped a beat when I saw the title from my fellow OF member and astronaut watch lover @Jones in LA I was not sure how Omega was going to fit "Gemini 4 - 50 years and 120 days - Better late than never" on the case back with Ed White etched in silver floating in space with a blued enamel background and silver stars, but I guess I don't have to worry about it anyway. Maybe tomorrow.
@TLIGuy -- Sorry, man! And I thought I had some kind of scoop. Hah! Looks like I was about 6 months late to the party
I'd guess it'll be available like the original FOIS, though I'm not sure of how even that's available.
Ariel Adams says it will come in at $US 18,000; certainly less than I thought it would be. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/omega-s...bered-edition-first-omega-space-watch-review/
I had put some thought into purchasing the Stainless Steel version but ultimately was put off by the sapphire crystal; if it had hesalite it'd be a done deal for me.
I'm bothered by the one dagger subdial for the running seconds, but stick hands for the other two. I'm also not partial to the plain stick chrono needle; I prefer the spade version found on the 105.003 - onwards. In photos it looks quite nice; seeing it in the OB left me super cold for some reason though
I'm new enough to these / haven't seen enough different variations in person to know what the wrist-level difference is? (I.e. when you're wearing it, what's the difference?)
@abrod520 -- maybe you were put off when seeing it at the botique because it looked like this? The photo is from today's official Omega press release and the colour looks very un-appealing (to me). But in other photos the Sedna gold colour is rich and attractive. I guess each person would have to see and judge for his/herself. © OMEGA Ltd. Regarding my comment on a preference for a hesalite crystal, the Speedmaster examples I've seen with hesalite are more appealing to the eye than the sapphire option: the details on the dial seem to come through much better. Having said that, the only Speedmaster I currently own does have a sapphire crystal, but because it is a unique watch (in other aspects) I was willing to compromise. But my next Speedmaster will definitely be hesalite.
