This is why Speidel expanding bracelets are bad

Here's @TLIGuy 's Speedmaster with the curved-ends, JB Champion mesh bracelet. I can't say for sure that the ends on his are spring-loaded, but I have the identical bracelet, and mine are:
These are spring-loaded. The things is, the JB Champions' max width is around 18mm. Putting one on 19mm or 20mm lugs will not cause the springs to be constantly pushing against the lugs. I don't know the measurements on the Speidel in question here, but I'm guessing the expanded size of the end links would be greater than the lug width, causing constant pressure and wear.

I’ve had a couple that were 16-20 or even 22 and those springs have some real tension on them-gotta cram them to get them in. I guess best judgement should be used when it comes to these things.

Yep, that was my point earlier. On the watches with narrow lugs widths you will have more pressure on the inside of the lugs.

If the endlinks are considerably larger than the lug width (when expanded), you might grind them down a bit and/or use some o-rings, as in this post.

You could use some o-rings, like this.
Yes! I have read about using gaskets, particularly on the 19mm endlinks in a 20mm bracelet- would cut the chatter for sure and mitigate the wear.

Seen so many "things" like that, from non WIS who doesn't care about the watch "value" just of comfort.
worse was a genuine red seadweller, with papers!, single owner, who asked to "have the watch heavily polished to remove all scratches" . I happened to be at the shop at that time to educate him about its value. he sold it the next week and got a new sub

It would be an interesting pole to see how many people on this forum only have one watch they wear daily.

Not too many I would say, being a watch enthusiasts forum.

@ONEWATCH might be him

holy ****! that's straight up nuts! I took my speedy off a twist o flex from looking at photos with a fraction of the wear you showed here. This is after I took a drill to the spring loaded end link to reduce the pressure to the inside of the lugs too. I think I am going to have nightmares after seeing your photo......

The jb champions he uses are not spring loaded.

That would be incorrect. The JB Champion end pieces are spring loaded. That is how the end piece is able to compress and expand.

Archer is correct. I believe the width of the case lug opening as well as the amount of pressure exerted against the case from a spring loaded end piece is going to determine how much damage could occur. In my experience wearing the JB bracelet with the end pieces fully extended to 19mm does not cause significant damage to my Speedmaster with 20mm lugs. There is no constant pressure exerted against the inside of the lugs. Does it rub the case, yes but not constantly and not enough to show any significant damage to my naked eye.

I wear my JB bracelet daily and so far none of the lugs have been sawed off by the bracelet. If anyone here wants to dump their bracelets over this damage concern drop me a PM and I'll take a few off your hands.

Maybe I should have said not spring loaded against the lugs.
